Dylan's Ulster County roots are as deep as roots can go. A product of the local public school system, from which he graduated with honors, he went on to a B.A. in economics from SUNY Oneonta and a Masters in Business Management, with honors, from SUNY New Paltz in 2003. Global travel during those early adult years only strengthened his commitment to his lifelong home as he developed a growing conviction that the majesty of the soaring Catskills with their endless Huck-Finn-style rivers and fishing creeks, sleepy small towns, and bustling, sophisticated urban centers, offered a richly varied lifestyle second to none. He knew he would come back and start a business of his own as soon as he could.


Traditional Sales Training...

And so he did, though not immediately. Academic foundation behind him, it was now time to get some on-the-ground training and experience. During his student days, he had risen to the Captainship of the wait staff at the elegant and exclusive Mohonk Mountain House and discovered, in the process, a zest for anticipating what people want and finding a way to get it for them. Now it was time to apply those skills to his chosen profession. And so for several years Dylan "learned the ropes" as a junior agent with a large, established real estate agency, taking what was best from the traditional training and the usual way of doing business that he saw around him, and methodically laying his plans for big changes in his own, "next generation" brokerage.

That vision was realized 2008 when Dylan boldly launched Taft Street Realty in the face of the worst economic downturn this country had seen in nearly a century. Young and ambitious, he believed that despite the discouraging business climate-perhaps because of the discouraging business climate-there was a need for a real estate brokerage using a whole new model. It would offer buyers and sellers the traditional and time-honored benefits of local knowledge, in-depth research, experience in skillful negotiations, and frank and fair dealings. Our home was a well built, uniquely designed structure in a beautiful setting with spectacular views, but in the wrong zip code. We listed with two high profile companies before trying flat fee MLS. We couldn't help but notice that Dylan Taft showed our home to more prospective buyers than all other realtors combined. We decided that he earned the right to list. Upon signing with Taft Realty, Dylan hired a professional photographer to take the best pictures ever taken of the property. He also reworded the listing to indicate that this was a special property that was, "off the radar." Within three weeks we received not one, but two competing offers on our home. Dylan handled all aspects of closing, resolving several potentially deal-breaking challenges to provide us with a problem free closing. On top of all that, he kept us completely informed on a very regular basis, and thanked us for our confidence in him with a thoughtful post-closing note and gift. Professional, hard working, and classy! I couldn't imagine a better experience. We are listing another hard to sell property with him this week.

Bought a Single Family home in 2015 for approximately $275K in Highland, NY.

As first time home-buyers, Dylan never hesitated to answer the myriad of questions my husband and I had about everything from the area, the homes and the buying process. He was always quick to respond even on weekends and accommodated late and last minute viewing times due to our busy schedules.
