Hello, I am Marjie Van Der Laan, happy and thankful to be of one the very few fourth generation real estate brokers in the world. My family's involvement in real estate dates back to 1935, so I guess real estate is in my genes!  After working in real estate for two years in Southern California, I moved to the Pacific Northwest, which I now call my home. 

My real estate partner and husband, D. Michael Zaviska, is fluent in English, German and Czech languages. He has a background of working through difficult situations and has an excellent track record in finding win-wins for clients and negotiating positive outcomes.

      Showed home in 2013 in Vancouver, WA.
      My family was recently considering a move to Vancouver, WA. from Wisconsin. After sifting through a few pages of Zillow reviews I decided to contact Marjie. It turned out to be a great decision. I had a very tight schedule and Marjie made the absolute most of my time. Not only was I shown the areas that met my needs, locations were also mapped out that had large power lines, high rental patches and lower scoring school systems. When an area is completely foreign being able to cross off neighborhoods is just as important as marking the potentials. After mapping out the locations we viewed a handful of unoccupied homes in various neighborhoods. This really helped me get a feel for how dated or modern certain areas were. Marjie also took the time to show me the local coffee shops, grocery stores and shopping hot spots. She understood that we may not buy immediately and suggested some apartments within the school systems we were interested in. Although we decided to pass on Vancouver my one day with Marjie was beyond expectations. She is both personable and professional, answered all my questions and then some and really painted a picture of what its like to live in Vancouver.       Sold a Single Family home in 2012 in Molalla, OR.
      Hello all this is and update from my last review of Marjie's expertise and class when it comes to selling homes. We just got our home sold yesterday, and despite the buyer's rushing us to sign this and to hurry up and promises that they made to us and backed out on....Marjie has put up with my incessant calling and questions about everything over and over again, she has handled surprises and changing events perfectly. Always there to keep us going and to straighten out new wrinkles that the buyers came up to slow us down. She is the best realtor of the three that we used to get it sold. Very professional and personable, really puts her all into her clients, above her own concerns and sleeping habits lol. My wife and I really appreciate her 110 % effort she puts into her work.

      Bought a Condo home in 2012 for approximately $125K in Piedmont, Portland, OR.
      One piece of advice: don’t go anywhere else for an agent! We soon realized Marjie is someone that not only values her clients, but beyond that, she became a friend. From the start, Marjie walked us though the process of locating something in our price range, complete with advantages or disadvantages, regardless if a sale was made. Since the transaction took place from New York, there were numerous non-business hour correspondences on her part. The long distance was never an issue with either of us due to her professionalism.
