David and Kira are an excellent team to work with. They're hard-working, easy to get along with, and are very knowledgeable about the area, the real estate market, and house construction and maintenance. I think they're truly invested in finding people homes they'll love.
I was nervous about buying my first house, but they talked me through the process and answered all my questions. I made an offer on a house and unfortunately the deal started to unravel, but at every step they carefully explained all of my options, always making it clear how I could get out if I wanted to. They gave me practical and honest advice based on my needs. This gave me a lot of confidence in the decisions I had to make.
They hooked me up with a great team of people to manage getting my first loan and insuring the title, getting inspections, and later, making repairs and upgrades to the property. They have an amazing network.
In the end, the deal worked out, and I'm very happy with the experience. I'd definitely work with Kira and David again.

Yes, I am leaving this review in multiple places. We connected with Kira and David when they showed us a house and quickly started working with them directly. Within a week we'd found a house and within another couple of weeks we were in the house. They know everyone in the San Anselmo area and everyone (title, surveyors, other realtors) is happy to work with them. I can say hand on heart we would not have found our home with out there help and we would not have closed successful with out their honest efforts. Thank you!

Let's face it, moving to Marin involves creativity!
Houses are small and funky, lots are on hills, and prices are really high. If you want to buy here, you need a team like Kira and David that can help you see the potential behind the funky house, the view from the hill if you trimmed a tree or two, the location's charm and the high prices as a small price to pay for investing in an amazing lifestyle.
Using their strong backgrounds in real estate and remodeling Kira and David masterfully helped us locate the perfect home, negotiate a fair price, navigate inspections, muddle through paperwork and they put together a team, including a great financing contact, that could bring it all to close despite some bumps on the seller's side.
I am thankful to have had their combined expertise working on my behalf, every step of the way.
I highly recommend!

We met Kira and her husband David through Yelp. They recently helped us facilitate a private sale. Both of them were highly personable, very professional and extremely knowledgeable of the process and the market. They gave us a very fair price for their services and went above and beyond to help us buy our house. We are very grateful for all their hard work, and will definitely be contacting them when we sell our house in the future :)
David and Kira are lovely to work with, and their skill sets complement each other. Kira can help envision changes to a prospective home and David knows what it would take to execute those changes. If he doesn't know, he knows where to find out. While we didn't end up buying a home in the area, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
We actually rented a home from David and Kira for a year and they were excellent landlords. They were understanding, responsive and generous and the house was well maintained and charming. When it came time for us to start looking for a place to buy we already knew and trusted them so it seemed natural to ask them to help us buy a place. It was a great choice! Kira and David have lived in the area a long time, so they know the pros and cons of every neighborhood. We had lots of VERY specific desires: walking distance to town, good light, narrow price point, room for a dog etc. We knew they wanted to sell the house we were renting, but we didn't feel any pressure to move until we were ready. They were encouraging and honest and forthright and we never had the feeling that we would have to "settle" on a house. They told us from the beginning, "We will find you the right house". In our price range we saw lots of fixers and David is a great resource for this type of house. He's very knowledgeable and gave us a good sense of the kind of work that would be easy to do and the kind that would be out of reach and expensive for do it yourself types like us.
After several months we decided we wanted to buy the house we were renting. We had a moment of anxiety because we had seen them skillfully negotiate for us on a few places and we wondered how it would work to buy their house. But, again I was impressed by their ethics and openness. They addressed every one of our concerns and made us a very fair deal on a house that had sentimental value to them as well as real estate value.
We love our home. In the end it was the perfect house for us (and we didn't even have to move). We will always be grateful to Kira and David for their skill and patience as real estate agents.

Kira and David are not only great at what they do, but they are great people too. They helped us find the perfect home at a price point that is hard to find in the San Anselmo/Fairfax area. They went above and beyond in helping us, including taking the time to know us, finding out what we want in a neighborhood and home, helping us understand the rapidly changing market, helping us present an offer that was competitive, negotiating a price, helping us close the deal, and even helping us with home maintenance work after closing. They have great insight to help you see the advantages/disadvantages in homes that may need more work. They are down-to-earth, reasonable, and easy to work with. It felt more like we were working with really good friends.

My husband and I were lucky to find Kira and David of Tam Realty, first through yelp and then confirmed through a recommendation from our mortgage broker. Not only are they warm and lovely people who were a pleasure to work with, but they are also very organized and skilled. Kira and David have a wonderful partnership, coordinating their efforts seamlessly.
Most importantly, Kira and David gave us terrific bidding strategy advice, which we believe allowed us to get our new home for the best possible price.
Kira is terrifically organized, which facilitated our expedited close (only 3 weeks!). They also gave us a number of recommendations for a variety of vendors/contractors - painter, handyman, roofer, arborist - all who did good work at competitive prices. Because we were moving from San Francisco to San Anselmo, they coordinated most of the work we did on the house before our move, including meeting vendors at the house to give them access.
I began my search for a home in San Anselmo / Fairfax area around April or May 2012. I searched websites for listings, mapped the locations, made occassional trips from San Francisco to view listings, and in general, just drove and hung out in the area. I reached a point where I knew it was time for professional assistance with someone who was established and knew the area. I had realtor recommendations, but also decided to review Yelp and other sites for realtor recommendations. This is when my search introduced me to Tam Realty and husband / wife team of David and Kira Swaim. The reviews were so positive that I felt obligated to at least make a phone call. This phone call led to a meeting with the couple at which time there was absolutely no pressure to sign on with them.
I signed! This was November 2012. My situation was somewhat different than other reviews. We discussed my "list" of important items for a home, and I indicated that I did not need to drive around just to look at listings and the area. During this time, there were very few listings within my price range that met qualities of my "list". Kira would notify me of new listings as they came up (and at times let me know that listings might be coming soon!), but she did not send me listings that were not warranted - no junk, so to speak! As is common, the holiday season was slow.
January 2013 arrived and so did new opportunities. They forwarded me listings as they felt appropriate and they were aware that I was also looking. When what appeared to be a strong home candidate came up in February 2013, things moved quickly and completely. My home was listed on a Thursday, public open house was Sunday (many people walked through!) and bids were due by Tuesday evening. David arranged to get me into the house on Monday before offers were due (the seller is still living in the home). I brought a friend and the three of us discussed what kind of offer would be necessary in this climate of less housing inventory and the uniqueness of this property. The listing realtor had nothing but good to say about David and Kira and stated that David has a very good sense regarding homes that need work. Things had to move quickly.
Three hours after the Tuesday offers were due, David and Kira were informed that I had not gotten the home, but that I was next in line should something fall through with the buyer. At 7:15am the next morning, David notified me that the original deal was off and that the home was mine! We were aware that the original buyer had an offer beyond what I could afford - we did not know specifics. We were also aware that other offers were submitted. My offer included items that sweetened the package. I have to compliment David and Kira (and my friend) for encouraging me to include some of the additional items in the offer - this made the difference!
As far as I can tell, Kira tends be the team member who is behind the paperwork, computer, office and organization (including the binder that others have referenced!) and other things I'm sure I did not see. David has a good sense of structure, construction and local buidling requirements. Both Kira and David were aware of all email communications that either sent out and any responses to my inquiries were very timely. I did get to spend time with them hearing about their family, their two daughters and their enjoyment of the community where they live, and work. They do make you feel like you are their only client. I would be pleased to have them as neighbors and friends in my new home. Thank you Kira and David Swaim!
As a manager of non-profit housing I have been very impressed with the personable and professional approach of both David and Kira. They are exemplary, trustworthy people with strong connections to the community.
