For some reason, here in CT we saw heightened activity in our office around the holidays... perhaps because there was less inventory on the market at that time? Who knows - we were just glad to have it!
Referrals have been a very credible source for us. Also, you may find some good info from your local home builders association. Verify licenses & be sure that your guy is insured!
Well said, Marci. It's scary to think about a lot of the things that go on between lawsuits, arbitration hearings and/or ethics complaints. I want no part of any of that - and even if it affects my earnings, I'd rather do things carefully, fair and square!
We are also seeing more agencies with higher-end properties actually asking for marketing fees from the seller upfront. I don't know if that works in all areas!
This is the world we live in - and the things we are discussing are the realities of our career. The good and the bad. We have some great clients that have been wonderful to us, and have remained great friends and repeat business. On the other hand, we have had some real challenges, just like any other real estate business does. I think that how we respond to those challenges is where our true levels of professionalism are tested, and ultimately revealed. And rather than get emotional about the bad - we'd rather release the difficult client, or take the proper measures that the situation requires.Just like the guy who came to us as our best friend to find him a buyer, and once we did, he "thought" he wasn't going to have to pay us. He just needed a bit of a refresher course on breach of contract is all.. and then we were all able to put it past us and move forward.I think this forum is an excellent place to discuss challenges & complaints about things we've experienced in the business - where better to brainstorn for solutions?
We have been hearing a lot of discussion about this in the northeast - agents leaving the business. It does seem that there is something of a "cleanup" going on..
Foreclosures were the topic of front page news in our local Sunday paper this past weekend... the headline was A.R.M.'ed - And Dangerous! It's sad, but it's happening more and more in our area as well...
I was curious if anyone had any experiences with tax leins to share? I would like to hear from those that have done this as an investment that can offer an opinion.
