12/09/2011 - harrahsemajSold a Single Family home in 2008 for approximately $700K in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, CA.
Alastair Duncan was very professional throughout the selling of our house. It was a stressful time for my wife and I and he was very respectful of our process. And not to bury the lead, but he sold the house in one month.

Alastair listened carefully to everything I wanted in a house and made it his mission to find exactly that. He didn't hesitate to walk away when he realized something wouldn't do. I had never bought property before and he took me through every step of the process, explaining everything clearly, which was especially important when it came to all the endless mortgage documents. He was also just fun to hang out with on the many afternoons we spent looking at different places. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a partner in their home-buying process.

I have bought and sold three houses over a period of 15 years and dealt with a handful of listing agents, from local heroes to big-firm honchos. None of them was as personable and likeable as Alastair. He understood my needs, never pushed me into making a deal, had the knowledge and the patience to find the right place for me, was always available and never made a mistake.

Alastair is a genuine person and a man of integrity. I was fortunate enough to work with him on the purchase of my first home. He was there to guide me each step of the way and help me make the right decisions. He understood my needs and limitations and was genuinely concerned that I ended up with the best house for me, steering me clear from the wrong, sometimes more expensive, sometimes downright lemon properties. I'm really happy with the home I ended up buying. He was knowledgeable, honest, patient, responsive, and always willing to put my interests first. He was also very quick to respond to emails and all phone messages, but for the most part was just available over the phone which helped us to act quick in our search and later on to solve problems in closing. During the closing process, there were some unfortunate complications caused by the seller's side which caused stress; however, everything worked out in the end.
Alastair went far and beyond and sometimes over the fence to help me get my home :)
I'm inviting him to the housewarming once I'm done with the renovations!

As a first time home buyer, I was recommended to Peter Lavin.
Peter was extremely helpful in making our home buying experience painless!
He negotiated a great rate for us, walked me through the entire process and cheerfully answered any questions I had, promptly!
If you are in the market for a home in Southern California, and would love a seasoned professional, then Peter Lavin is for you.

11/02/2012 - LavinfanSold a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $850K in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, CA.
Due to appalling market trends my home was a very difficult sell. In the process of finally getting it sold I witnessed Mr. Lavin exercise a continually varied set of strong communication, negotiation, and marketing skills unflaggingly on my behalf. I was absent from the area over the time that my home was being marketed, and Mr. Lavin also assumed the responsibility of maintaining a strong presence and campaign irrespective of my ability to oversee his conduct in any way. He remained committed to the process even as it adversely impacted his own commission, and was, in the whole, my trusted liaison throughout. He is a kind and concerned man who understands the LA market. He also seems to me empathetic to each individual sellers specific needs. I would recommend his firm wholeheartedly to anyone.

Peter is an exceptional real estate agent. He has extensive knowledge of the Los Angeles real estate market, and he is an excellent guide through the process of purchasing property -- which is what I would expect from a gifted agent. However, Peter is more than just an excellent resource for market knowledge. Peter is honest and straightforward, and is unafraid to express his opinions (based on many years of experience) concerning certain properties. That is invaluable when you are looking for a home in a market like Los Angeles'. In addition, Peter has a great personality; the time we spent together was more fun than work, and that means a great deal when navigating the stressful (and often frustrating) process of purchasing a home. I recommend Peter without reservation.

11/02/2012 - SunchiSold a Single Family home in 2008 for approximately $800K in Sherman Oaks, Van Nuys, CA.
Peter assisted me with the sale of my home in a terrible market and with his marketing/multiple open houses we sold in a record time. Less than 60 days on the market and got very close to asking price. His cheerfull attitude and professionalism with negotiating price made the difference. He is very reliable and does what he says he is going to do. A real gent!!
