Why The Bike Realtor? (aka harry greenberg)

Because combining my biking passion with my real estate expertise gets you the property you want and helps protect the environment simultaneously! From my perspective, it never  makes sense to burn fossil fuels that cannot be easily replaced to buy real estate.  Besides, I love riding and finding good places for people to live in (or lease to others).  And there is no better way to learn a neighborhood than to see it, hear it and smell it from a bicycle.

I often invite my real estate clients along for the ride (and have plenty of bikes for their use just in case they are without a bike) but I never require it. You are welcome to drive and I can meet you – Make sense?  Then ride on! . .

If you are serious about buying a single-family home, condominium, townhouse or duplex, I can help you. I specialize in properties located in Minneapolis.

In the last 13 years, I've succeeded in buying a number of rental properties – all of which cash flow.  I am generous about sharing my knowledge, and researching particular areas to find out whatever you need to know to make the right decisions for yourself about buying the right property to meet your needs.

However even If you don't buy a house, perhaps you're interested in learning more about biking to work!   I also teach classes in bicycle commuting for those who are unwilling to pay for $4.00/gallon gas. I am passionate about increasing the number of bikers in the Twin Cities (and everywhere else) and once you begin to adopt a bicycling lifestyle, you will never look back!  it's much easier than you could possibly imagine.

That's why I call myself The Bike Realtor.

STEP ONE is easy – and fun.  We talk a lot! We spend time talking – preferably in person, but I am open to what works for you and your schedule.  I want to know what you're seeking – and not seeking. I am primarily a buyer's agent which means I work a mostly with buyers and less with sellers.

STEP TWO involves my researching the market according to your likes and dislikes as well as price and other specifications. I send you property descriptions, usually with photos, that may match your needs.

Once you see something that interests you, we're ready for.......

STEP THREE:  .We meet at the property you want to see or we'll ideally bike there together from your house, my house or some other agreed-upon location; an alternative is for you to drive there to meet me and my bike!

By biking together, we can rate the degree to which the location is "bicycle friendly." This is a metric I have devised based on trails, streets with bike lanes or room for bikers as well as the places you regularly travel to and from.

We revisit STEP THREE  (or we can call it STEP FOUR-if you want to feel we're making progress and are anxious to leave STEP THREE!) as many times as we need to in order to discover YOUR DREAM HOUSE-PROPERTY! And hopefully you are now seriously reconsidering a non-motorized lifestyle to go with it-

Bought a home in 2014 in Powderhorn Park, Minneapolis, MN 55407.

A real pleasure to have spent as much time house shopping by bike as we did together. I was initially looking for someone who wasn't just an expert in the industry but was also trustworthy and had values I could relate to. I found these things in Harry and that's why I stuck with him. He knows South Minneapolis as well as I do which was very important as I grew up here and wanted to settle down close to the neighborhood I grew up in. I had a long journey from the beginnings of credit establishment to the day I signed the closing docs with Harry giving me impartial and insightful guidance along the way. I really feel like he was my advocate the whole time.  More Less

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $150K in Bryant, Minneapolis, MN.

He did all and more to help me find the home I wanted, and to get all the processes in train to make the deal happen.

I would recommend The Bike Realtor to everyone in their search for a good home and a fair deal.

Bought a Multi Family home in 2013 for approximately $200K in Corcoran, Minneapolis, MN.

Harry was fantastic to work with! My wife and I had just jumped into searching for our first property with some very specific requirements: We wanted a duplex we could live in that also had good rental numbers, in a nice area in Minneapolis, for a depressingly small amount of money. These were pretty stringent, narrow requirements for Harry to work within, but he pulled out all the stops and worked tirelessly for us!

My wife and I both had 100% trust that Harry would tell us the truth about a property and a neighborhood, and he is not shy about giving his opinion! I was really worried about getting a realtor with the 'used car salesman' pressure-pitch vibe: Harry was the total, polar opposite of this! He was blunt, forthright, and genuinely had OUR best interest at heart. He never once pressured us, and supported us fully when we ended up backing out of our first offer after inspection - in spite of the fact that it would mean weeks more work for him before we found the home we ended up going with!

His knowledge of the neighborhoods in Minneapolis was outstanding - I imagine that biking everywhere gives him a keener insight into the areas he serves. He seemed to have a personal street-by-street knowledge of the areas we were looking in, and I found myself quite impressed despite being a lifelong MN resident. I was a bit worried that we may not be able to move quickly on houses at first with Harry not having a car, but he scheduled everything on our schedules and was never once late. It wasn't remotely an issue.

Halfway through the process, we began having issues with the Credit Union that we had been pre-approved through. Harry really went the extra mile and rode out to the bank to discuss matters, then ended up getting us in contact with a different mortgage broker who got us all set up with days of closing!

I am very highly satisfied with the effort and lengths Harry went to on our behalf, professionally and personally. As soon as we fully settle into our new place we'll be having him over for dinner as an extra thank you!
