This seems easy enough, but I am having difficulties because I keep getting an error message stating that my sale date (8/31/09) is earlier than the listing date, which Zillow says is 9/12/09. Ironic, considering that the days on Zillow number is 215!!!
Zillow is a great place to find an estimate, but there can be issues like you mentioned. The best way to get the value of your home is to call a local agent and have them complete a market analysis. It will be much more thorough than a Zestimate pulled only from the numbers (not comparing quality of homes, etc) and many agents will do one for free.
Short sales are my specialty right now and they can be a great bargain. However, they take someone knowledgeable about the process to represent you through the transaction.
