Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $200K in Bloomington, IN.
Zak is great to work with! We started our house search from 500 miles away with a recommendation to work with Zak from a colleague. Working with him made all the difference--not just for the house buying process, but for moving into a new town as well. His skills are bottomless. He is extremely responsive, answering emails quickly and at all hours. He also made himself very available during our trip into town. Though he nailed the houses we were ultimately going to decide between right off the bat (ones we didn't even have on our radar), he patiently took us to see all the ones on our list. During the negotiation process and sale he was equally patient and available. And his knowledge of the town itself is second to none. He is sharp, talented, and incredibly enjoyable to work with. Never knew there were real estate agents like him out there!

Bought a home in 2013.
Zak was wonderful! He was very patient during our 2-month house search, and he was informative about neighborhoods, prices on comparable houses, potential problems with homes (both in terms of likely repairs and inconveniences for our lifestyle), possible fixes for problems, etc. He quickly got a sense of our preferences and helped us narrow down our search. He guided us through the entire process in a friendly, organized, and informative way, and quickly responded to our questions. We had a few unexpected problems come up (one during the inspection, one after), and he calmed us down, put things in perspective, and put us in touch with reliable contractors who fixed the problems for very reasonable prices. Zak would offer his expert opinion when we asked, but we never felt like he was pushing us in a particular direction, and he never rushed our decision. In the end, we bought the first house he showed us, and we're very happy here. I have nothing but praise for Zak, and I'd highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy a house in Bloomington.

Sold a home in 2013.
Zak was so fun to work with, it was almost a shame that he found us a new place so quickly! We first worked with Zak to buy our new home, and later on to sell our old home. Zak is an incredibly responsive, professional and hard-working real estate agent. The hunt for our new home lasted several months, and Zak's commitment to finding us a new house never waned. He went above and beyond in so many ways -- digging up details from city planning, arranging a meeting with a contractor to get an opinion on a foreclosed property, attending meetings with our lender about rehab loan options, putting together offers late at night, burrowing around in creepy crawl spaces. Eventually Zak found a property that was a perfect step up from our old home, and we had an offer placed and accepted within 3 days of its listing. During the inspection phase, several major issues were discovered and Zak negotiated 15K in credits to repair them. Zak’s enthusiasm for selling our old home was just as intense as his drive to find us a new home. He gave us tons of great tips for preparing the house for showing. He pointed out that the color and condition of the paint of our house would likely hurt its curb appeal. So while Zak took a short vacation to San Francisco, he was texting us photos of interesting color schemes! We hired a handyman Zak recommended to repaint the house and we were thrilled with the results. Zak suggested a list price that was spot on for the spring market. Two days before listing Zak asked if some of his out of town clients could take a sneak peak, and he ended up selling them the house before we even put it on the market. Outside of his super-human work ethic and professionalism, Zak is just a wonderful person. We never felt like his clients, always his friends. He has a fantastic sense of humor, and a genuine love for his job and desire for seeing his clients happy. He has this great way of quietly figuring you out without making you feel like he’s figuring you out—a useful skill in determining what sort of house works for you. Also, Zak definitely did his fair share of baby-sitting so that we could take a good look at houses during walk throughs. Our one year old learned to say Zak’s name almost immediately, and loved going with “ZZZZZZZZZZZak” to look at new houses. We also know that on his spare time, Zak rescues neighbors’ cats from potentially burning-down houses. Super-human and a super human! Hire Zak!

Bought a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $200K in Bloomington, IN.
Buying our first home could not have been any easier. Zak explained the process of home buying to us and assisted us with every step in the process. On day one he provided us with a list of preferred mortgage brokers in town. Once we had selected our broker, Zak would follow up with him on our behalf if we had questions or were waiting on a response. Zak was available to schedule showings at times that worked for our schedules. Zak proactively identify houses that met the criteria we were looking for and would schedule multiple houses for us to view at a time. Zak's availability and responsiveness made me feel like we were his only clients. Zak has a great reputation in the Bloomington real estate community. At an open house another realtor commented on how lucky we were to have Zak working with us. When looking at houses, Zak would point out things that we should pay attention to and ask us questions that as a first time-home buyer I wouldn't have thought of. Zak helped us evaluate our home purchase in terms of what our needs are now, how they might evolve in the time we own the home, and what we should consider for resale. Zak always focused on what was in our best interest. Do not let Zak's pleasant personality fool you when it comes time to negotiate. Zak worked hard to make sure that we were getting that best possible deal on the house that we could. We purchased a property For Sale by Owner which required additional work on Zak's part since the sellers did not have a realtor of their own. Zak reassured us that the extra work was worth it for us to get the home that was right for us. After closing, Zak provided us with a list of recommended contractors and service providers to help us maintain our home. Everyone from this list that I have worked with has been excellent. I can not recommend Zak highly enough.

Bought a Condo home in 2013 for approximately $100K in Bloomington, IN.
Zak Szymanski was our buying agent, but after working with Zak for several months prior to, and following our sale, I have no doubt that everything I say would apply to hiring him to sell your house for you.

His communication is really impressive. Seldom did more than a few minutes go by before he answered a call or a text. He kept us informed of buying opportunities, followed up on questions about properties, and even stuck his neck out and called us to have us make a last minute 8 hour round trip so we wouldn’t lose a property he knew we were interested in. We trusted him enough to make that trip, and we haven’t regretted it for a minute. His intuition about the give-and-take in the buying and negotiating process can be totally trusted. In every single situation in which we questioned him about something, he proved to be right. He tries hard to please his clients, but is honest when asked direct questions. He doesn’t beat around the bush, giving answers he thinks you want to hear.

Zak had no motivation to help us with our own selling situation but readily gave us answers and advice when we asked him. In fact, his advice helped us sell our house more than our own realtor (different county) did! He is very knowledgeable about real estate, and thinks quite a bit outside the box as far as problem-solving goes.

Zak networks extensively and effectively and has contacts to help with almost any problem you may encounter upon inspections. In every situation, his recommendation for an expert on a problem has been a great one. Even since we bought our property, we are still using the contacts Zak gave us to improve our property.

Our sale was not a big one for Zak, and he was not the listing agent, so he did not make a very big commission. I am certain, however, that he worked as hard with us as he worked with sales that come with much bigger commissions. He is ethical, dependable, and one of the most hard-working professionals I have had the pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend Zak Szymanski as both a buying and a selling agent. You will not be disappointed. He will work tirelessly to make you happy. He has a passion and a talent for real estate, and frankly, is just a very nice guy!

Sold a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $125K in Bloomington, IN.
Zak was the listing agent for my home in the McDoel Gardens neighborhood of Bloomington, Indiana. He worked with me extensively prior to listing, and then handled the listing, negotiation and sale on my behalf after I had moved out of town. Zak's guidance made the process of preparing my home for sale much simpler, and eliminated any bad surprises along the way (for example, at inspection). His work got me 3 offers within 3 days of listing, and he helped me select buyers that made a fair offer and were easy to work with. I recommend him without reservation to anyone preparing to list a house in downtown Bloomington.

Bought a Condo home in 2012 for approximately $125K in Bloomington, IN.
Zak was my buyer's agent for a recent condo purchase. In searching for my future home, Zak showed great patience and professionalism. He is a down-to-earth, kind-hearted guy who really wants to find the perfect home for his buyers.

I went to many open houses when I was in the early stages of buying a home. The agents showing the homes would ask if I had an agent. When I told them that I was working with Zak, they all commented that I was in good hands and that he was a great guy. When the competition says your agent is one of the best, you feel confident that you made a good choice.

Zak's patience and kindness with me didn't equate to a softness when it came to negotiating. He pushed the envelope in the negotiation process and I feel I was rewarded with a great deal.

Would I recommend Zak to a friend? Yes, and I have. A friend recently decided to buy a home. I told him of my great experience with Zak and my friend opted for him too. My friend's home-buying experience was great too.
