High HOA fees will turn off buyers.  Unfortunately, HOA's are usually poorly run. When looking at a condo in a HOA check out the fee and the books if you can.  Make sure money isn't being spent aimlessly - this is usally the case. I am starting a HOA social networking website, should be ready any day to address HOA issues.
