I recently worked with Barbara over a 6 month period. During that time she kept me apprised of homes she thought I would be interested in without being too pushy. She listened to my requests and would pick appropriate properties for me to view. She never tried to push me into a higher price bracket. Once I found my house, she worked diligently to work through the MULTIPLE roadblocks I encountered all the way through closing. After closing she was a great resource in helping me to find electrician, painter, contractors, ect. I would HIGHLY recommend her without reservation.…More Less

09/07/2012 - user0764583Bought a Single Family home in 2012 for approximately $375K in Chapel Hill, NC.
I had little time to make a big decision about an international move. Barb communicated with me by email and phone, was super accessible, and very knowledgeable about the area. I was really impressed with Barb's ability to understand what I was looking for in a home; she didn't try to convince me into a house I wouldn't like. She was extremely easy to work with, set up loads of viewings for me, and helped me suss out issues as I weeded out options. AND she did it all with a super positive attitude. I really appreciated her professionalism, and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking real estate in this area!…More Less

From the moment we contacted Barbara, we could feel her working on our behalf, even though we began to work with her well in advance of the date we were going to be able to move. Her warmth, knowledge of the local market, and her sensitivity to our particular wants and needs resulted in our finding the perfect property for us. We feel very fortunate to have connected with her and feel that good fortune worked greatly in our favor!…More Less

Hi! I'm Barbara Pater
I have lived in Chapel Hill since 1997, when my husband and I decided that we wanted to find the "perfect" place to raise our children, then 6 and 10. We were living in Southern California, and although it WAS beautiful, it did not offer what we ultimately wanted for our kids.. After screening several cities, we settled on Lake Hogan Farms in Chapel Hill. Fast forward 14 years and here we are. This community has offered us everything we could have hoped for...great schools, a safe environment, and a beautiful town rich with culture and opportunity. My daughter attended and graduated from the University of NC at Chapel Hill, and my husband works there at the hospital.
I have worked in several capacities, and all of my experiences I believe have enabled me to be a great communicator and negotiator. While living in California, my family owned and operated a wholesale/retail silk flower/plant and Christmas business for 21 years. I was project manager on many installations from casinos in Las Vegas, Seaworld in San Diego, to decorating Jenny Craig's house for Christmas. That experience in the design field has been tremendously valuable in helping me understand how to prepare a home for a quick sale. Since moving to North Carolina, and before I became a real estate agent, I worked as a flight attendant with Midway Airlines. That helped me hone my negotiating skills...put people on a plane, and you are in charge of making the best of every situation. What a fantastic job! RTP's premier regional airline shutdown after 9/11 and I took advantage of a few years off to raise my kids.
I love riding horses, have a young Great Dane named Sophie and have been married for 30 years. I value my relationships and add my clients to my friend list. I am high energy and tireless when it comes to either selling a home or finding the perfect next home. I look forward to working together!
I have had my real estate license for 6 years and have enjoyed an active, thriving business. I believe everything I have done until now has led me to my favorite career.. I have earned the Sterling award with Coldwell Banker and am a Quality Certified Agent.
"...using her professionalism and persistence, secured a buyer during a very stagnant sales time..."

"...I could not have asked for a more professional or more caring real estate agent during a time of very high stress for me."
