Heads up, fellow Magnolians: I got an e-mail last night saying there have been random break-ins around Magnolia recently. One happened on 37th (near Barrett St). Here are the details: Just found out some friends were burglarized yesterday between 6-8 pm. They left the house, drove to the airport and back and returned to chaos. Everything thrown all over, every drawer opened, laptops, keys to cars and house, jewelry, etc. all stolen. The thieves got in through the backdoor with some kind of a crowbar. Apparently just shredded the door. The house is on 37th, off Barrett, in a very visible location but with a quiet alley on the east side. They surmise the thieves were watching the house waiting for them to leave.

Hello, Sloveniaco: We get our data from public records. If those records are not updated with info on what you or your neighbors have done to improve your homes, we have no way of knowing the improvements that were made. However, you can update the information on your home on Zillow by updating your home facts and creating your own estimate. Here's more on how to do it: http://www.zillow.com/learnmore/EditingHomeFacts.htmOnce you do this, it can potentially affect your Zestimate value.
Oh no! Kitteh looks very unhappy. Sorry, kitteh, but we hope you give us a bit of a chance. We think tying Q&A and Discussions to a region helps, and we're also in the process of ironing out some problems that have been reported by the Zillow Community. Please be patient. Thanks for the "kitteh litter," mina36!
The meat of the Zestimate is built from public data and the price of recently sold homes similar to yours. If the public data is outdated, you can certainly update your home facts that might affect the Zestimate value -- either lower or higher. Here's some more info.
I know, I can see the angst and frustration, but please just give it a chance and see if the kinks can be worked out. Don't you think there are good parts to it? Like, every time I respond or you respond, we get notified via email? I admit that I was not been a big participant in the past Discussions model and more of a watcher, but I could see a lively and dedicated group there. We're hoping that these changes will help people drill into local conversations. That was the main idea behind it.
