Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $1.4M in San Carlos, CA.Summary:
Denise is the best. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She and her daughter work together as a team. We worked with them during the challenging process of buying our first home. They were helpful and knowledgeable at every stage of the process, and they continue to be a great resource for us.
The Laugesens are extremely knowledgeable about various communities throughout the Peninsula including Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo and San Carlos. They told us everything we needed to know about what each different area had to offer. Denise knows a great deal about home construction and remodeling and what could be easily redone and what not, making her an invaluable resource for us as we toured homes. She was extremely honest and pointed out defects that we might not have been aware of in the various homes we saw, which made us even more confident in our final choice.
Denise and Cortney (her daughter and partner) are warm, friendly and delightful to be around. They are everything we could have asked for in our realtors.…More Less

First of all, I don't know anyone in any line of work who is more responsive than Denise to calls and emails. She treats you as if you are her only client in the entire world and seldom do I wait more than an hour or two for a response and it's even usually within 15 minutes I hear back from her. I know she's an early riser by the early responses first thing in the morning from her BlackBerry.
Denise knows the local real estate market better than anyone. She knows all kinds of things about homes in the area. She's probably been inside just about every house in the neighborhood and she has an incredible memory to remember the interior of a house she has not been inside in years. She can often find listings that are off market/MLS and knows when new stuff is coming up. When we first were looking, we relied on the real estate sites and MLS, but found that there is just so much more out there that is not easily accessible. Denise Laugesen really has inside connections in this area.
Beyond that, as a home builder, she also knows what things will cost, what things are important to look for in a purchase, and which materials are of high quality. She knows the cheap stuff from the good stuff, and knows the best sub contractors around to get things done. I think this is rather unique to for a Realtor to know the details, like how much an entire house of windows would cost, or what it might cost to redo the electrical system of a house. Because she has built so many homes in the area she understands things like foundation work, framing, planning, and layout.
After purchasing our home, she also helped us (as a courtesy to us) navigate things thru the Town, in terms of planning, permits, etc. She really saved us a TON of time and money in proper planning of our remodel. She helped us avoid costly overruns, and sat down with us and went Town Hall with us to help us work out some planning issues.
Denise Laugesen is simply the best local agent around. I simply could not imagine using anyone else. Every time something would come up, our answer would be "Let''s see what Denise thinks"
In addition to all of the above, Denise is incredibly courteous, respectful, and truly a nice person. She has recently began working with her daughter Courtney for the last few years, and this has only added to the level of service the Denise Laugesen Team can provide.
We also had another home (our first) which we were renting, and in passing I mentioned we were looking for a new tenant, and 2 days later she had a client to show it to.
Just to say one last thing. I knew Denise had a lot of pull when we were doing a home inspection and we needed an estimate on what it would cost to remove a few giant Eucalyptus trees. She called the owner of the tree company, and he came over immediately. in SEVEN minutes he magically appeared and you could see that Denise Laugesen is someone who just gets results.…More Less
