I don't think I possibly could have had a more positive experience. I was so comfortable and confident in Ed that if he'd called and said "I found the perfect house, you can't see it, and you have to put an offer in now" I probably would have said "sure." He literally knew DC block by block. Several times we would be in a neighborhood looking at a house and either he would call someone he knew so we could see the house they bought, or someone would come outside and greet Ed like an old friend and talk about the neighborhood. We had a blast. There were some issues during our closing and Ed helped us through them. Even when the deal was done he kept checking in and helping out until we were totally on our feet. I consider Ed to be honest, knowledgeable, and a friend.

Bought a home in 2014 in Columbia Heights, Washington, DC 20010.

Ed is amazing. He knows DC so well, neighborhood by neighborhood, and is honest in his recommendations. On top of deep local knowledge, he is extremely responsive and easy to get a hold of by text/email/phone, and was always willing to pick us up and show us homes at times convenient to us. Finally, and this was important to us, there was absolutely no pressure for us to buy and we looked for many months before we were even certain we would actually purchase a home (we ultimately purchased three homes with Ed's help). I could not recommend Ed more strongly!

Listed, but didn't sell my home in 2013.

When looking to buy a new condo we were not sure where we wanted to live. Ed showed us many great options throughout the city, even in neighborhoods that we had not originally targeted. He was very helpful to first time home buyers. Years later, when selling our condo, he helped us sell our condo within weeks of asking for his help. He hosted a successful open house and we had several offers to choose from in just a couple of days.

Bought a home in 2013 in Capitol Hill, Washington, DC 20002.

Ed was recommended by a friend. He Helped me find a condo in my price range within one week. I could not be happier with my place. He helped me find a contractor and an accountant. All of them were honest responsive and easy to work with. Ed took the time to get to know me and what I wanted. He Patiently Helped me through what is a very big and scary process. I trust him and have recommended him to friends and colleagues. And if nothing else you will enjoy his company. He has incredible energy and wit.

Bought a home in 2012.

Ed is the third realtor that I have worked over the last 10 years and he was by far the best. His knowledge of DC, its neighborhoods, history, etc…, was impressive. He got me very excited about living in the city. Ed is very patient. I worked with him for over 7 months before finding the right house. Ed gladly took me out on over 25 occasions often seeing between 5-7 properties. He never pressured me and was insistent we would find the right one – and finally we did. Ed also has a great personality and makes the home buying process fun. He thoroughly explains the full process even if you have been through it before. When I make my next transaction in DC, it will be with Ed.

Bought a Townhouse home in 2011 for approximately $975K in Cleveland Park, Washington, DC.

Ed Carp is a great real estate expert, and I am talking with experience having spent nearly four years to find either a house or a large apartment in north west DC. All previous real estate agents before him were impatient, and at times not knowing all the real estate rules in DC. At one point an agent did not disclose the fact a building was about to undergo major renovation which would raise the condo fees to unmanageable levels. Ed Carp helped us find a home within a short period and he also supervised the renovation. He also found a reasonable contractor to do the job.

We couldn't have been happier using Ed Carp. Highly professional, he understood our needs and found us a coop apt in the right neighborhood for us. What could be better. After that the whole process from offer to settlement went smoothly.

Bought a Single Family home in 2011 for approximately $725K in Near Northeast, Washington, DC.

Ed Carp is amazing and I recommend him wholeheartedly and without qualification. He has expertise in all steps of the homebuying process: helping you (as a buyer) find a neighborhood that is right for you, what to look for and think about as you walk-through homes, developing comps and pricing for you to consider in making an offer, writing up terms and submitting offers with you, and walking you (even as a new homebuyer) through the offer, inspection, and closing process all while putting your nerves at ease. It is not an exaggeration to say I'd trust Ed with my life.

Ed has a great and big personality -- and will share his views and his valuable perspective with you -- but with total respect and not pushing his views on anyone.

To give a full picture of how amazing Ed was: Ed helped my wife and I buy a home at the end of 2011. Due to our work travel schedules, our search took about 6 months -- and began with our uncertainty as to which neighborhood in DC was "right" for us. Ed took us throughout the city and helped us figure out quickly where we wanted to live (capitol hill/h st). We were extremely picky in making sure the home we'd saved so long for was just right. (Hence the 6-month search) Ed could not have been more supportive -- tirelessly visiting new listings with us as well as giving us the right amount of space to figure out exactly what we wanted. His perspective was invaluable. And -- after we found the perfect home -- Ed walked us through the offer and closing process, carefully addressing jangled nerves whenever we got them. For example, some potential issues came up during the inspection -- but Ed was wonderful in negotiations (always pleasant, never ugly) and we worked with the seller to agree on the right final repairs so we all could close on time. Ed even stayed in touch after closing, making sure things worked out as we expected.

About ten years before, I bought a condo unit with a realtor who was very nice and perfectly adequate, so I have some basis for comparison. But in the world of DC real estate, Ed is truly a star.

Sold a Single Family home in 2011 in Kalorama, Washington, DC.

If I were writing a job description for the perfect realtor it would be based on Ed Carp's performance. In June of last year Ed found us a beautiful apartment that was exactly what we were looking for and in the ensuing months sold our house under very difficult circumstances involving the construction of a high-rise apartment building next door. In shepherding us through these transactions Ed was the consummate professional, energetic and knowledgeable, fluent in his knowledge of financial markets and creative in his understanding of day-to-day real estate operations in D.C. His guidance through the impenetrable mortgage loan industry was invaluable. Through his efforts we secured the most favorable rates and with his assistance were able to negotiate terms that met our financing needs. And throughout the process he was unfailingly good-humored, resilient and accessible. Moreover, he was marvelously efficient in organizing our affairs so that the move went much more smoothly than it would have had we been left to our own devices. First off, Ed arranged for packing boxes of all sizes--china barrels, wardrobes, book cartons-to be delivered, along with the necessary bubble wrap and tape dispensers so that we could begin packing. At the same time he directed efforts to de-clutter the closets and bookshelves, paint and repair scuffed areas and generally prepare the house for showing. He also provided two helpful young men who had worked for him before to disconnect and pack up all the electronic equipment. (And later supervised them in re-installing everything in the new apartment (o.k., we're pretty lame at such tasks.)
