Michael and Cassandra Whellams are agents with Windermere Real Estate Orcas Island. They have been associated with Windermere since 1999 just shortly after they arrived on Orcas Island. In their previous careers both were educators working for the Washoe County School District in northern Nevada. Michael's career as a teacher, counselor, activities director and principal spanned 29 years all at the high school level. Cassandra's career in elementary education was also varied and included teaching kindergarten, 1st-3rd combination classrooms as well as serving as a adjunct professor in the Department of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno.
During their 11 years in real estate they have garnered a skill set that gives enables them to provide their clients with some unique real estate perspectives. Shortly after settling on Orcas they began construction on their own home which has given them a full understanding of the complexities of the building process. They have also been involved in land development which involved subdividing a 40 acre tract into 4 ten acre parcels. They have represented buyers and sellers of dozens of Orcas properties and because they own their own boat have also assisted clients with the sale and purchase of properties on several of the non-ferry served islands.
