We are confident in recommending Robert Brown to help buy a home in the Longwood and Lake Mary region. For almost two years, Robert helped us find the house we bought in August 2012. It took a couple of years because we had several events, both good and bad, occur in our family, and whenever things would settle down, we’d call him to start the search again. He was always responsive and ready to compile a list of appropriate homes to visit. Knowing that we were new to this part of Florida, Robert took us around to help us get familiar with the neighborhoods, schools and shopping areas. He showed us homes in both gated and ungated communities, so we could compare the amenities. He was knowledgeable, understanding and patient, and really listened when we told him what we wanted (and didn’t want) in a home. He showed us an excellent selection of homes, and never got pushy or hard sell on us when it just didn’t click even though a house met all or most of our check list items. If it didn’t feel right, he didn’t make us feel badly about not loving it. He would just discuss the nuances of our concerns and needs so he could better understand how to get us closer to a home.
When we pulled up in front of the house we eventually bought, we liked the land and the layout right away, inside and out, but it needed a lot of work. Robert helped us assess what needed to be improved to bring the house up to par. It impressed us that he didn’t try to take advantage and slam us into the house at any price. He said it was important it be the right house at the right price (a sign of a real professional agent) and we decided to wait because the asking price was too high in light of all the improvements that were needed.
We waited a few months and finally the price came down, and Robert helped us negotiate a realistic price which left us money to renovate the house the way we want it. With his guidance and hand-holding, we had an agreement and a smooth closing in one month. (August 2012)
