I have spent the majority of my life living in resort and resort-like communities. Honolulu, St Thomas, Puerto Rico & Cocoa Beach to name a few. Even the other areas I have lived have been areas of high interest for travelers, vacationers and sightseeing in general. Washington D.C., New York City and for the better part of the last 25 years, the Shenandoah Valley.
Much of this time and in fact several times over the last 30 years or so, I have called the Shenandoah Valley my home. To be specific, Massanutten Village or Massanutten Resort as it is often called and the nearby communities of Elkton, McGaheysville and Harrisonburg have been home where I have been educated, married and raised my family.
Over the years I have come to know exactly why the Massanutten area of the valley has long been and remains today such a huge draw for visitors. The original settlers who were in fact, at first, visitors, felt it too.
Home. Whether you spend just a day, week or month, it doesn't take long to realize, this could be home. Good schools, fine dining and generally healthy living are just a few reasons. Add the natural beauty so close to important major metro areas and it becomes obvious.
