The process was very good with plenty of good guidance for someone unfamiliar with the area. There is still one item the realtor said he would have repaired on the exterior, but I believe it will be done.

I am not new to the task of buying and selling homes--including a FSBO--and have interviewed and worked with many realtors along the way. I can say without reservation that Joel and his team are a credit to their profession. Do not select a realtor, especially on Capitol Hill, without meeting Joel first.
He is a great listener and identifies all the desires and pain points of his client, then consistently incorporates those preferences throughout the process. No reminders necessary. Also, he knows all the players on Capitol Hill and DC -- other realtors, inspectors, lenders, settlement -- and is a strategic and skilled communicator.
We were on the seller side. He identified several inexpensive upgrades, arranged and oversaw the work, staged the house beautifully with his interior design team, shrewdly scheduled the showings and open house, spurred multiple bids, and then carefully walked us through the pros and cons of each to help us make a decision. Our house quickly sold well above asking.
If you're a seller in this market, it's tempting to go the FSBO route to avoid paying commission to your seller's agent. Sometimes that works fine. But if it doesn't work and you do need to call on the services of a realtor, call Joel. We tried FSBO, and did go under contract, which fell through due to some questionable tactics on the buyer's side. After that frustrating experience, we called Joel. Joel's team netted us a price that MORE THAN COVERED their commisson. We walked with more proceeds. Call him.
