June 25, 2014 - settled on sale of upgraded 200 year old row home on 900 block of Tyson Street in Mount Vernon section of Maryland. Following Joy's (Long and Foster) recommendations for marketing the home, pricing, home inspection and staging the home netted 35% more than the average listing price recommended by two competing national realtors the sellers interviewed. The home was not bid up by buyers - it sold nearly at the price Joy recommended, taking into consideration the superior condition of the home and its location in Mount Vernon, central to cultural, dining and entertainment venues. All of the realtors interviewed as prospects agreed that there were no comparable home sales in the Mount Vernon area. Joy saw that as an opportunity. The home never displayed a For Sale sign. The offer that we accepted was tendered only one week after signing the contract with Long and Foster and closed about a month after the initial offer.<br/><br/>Joy was a joy to do business with and I have never been so happy about paying a commission.

Sold a home in 2013.

I started the home-buying process feeling very nervous and overwhelmed. Joy not only helped me search for homes, but gave great guidance throughout to help me figure out just what I wanted. She was terrific both at calming my nerves and at helping me navigate all the details of the home-buying process. This was no small task, considering this was my first home purchase and the fact that I used two grant programs with extremely stringent requirements and tight timelines. She knows Baltimore and her business very well and her guidance and experience was invaluable. Joy was immediately responsive whenever I had questions or needed anything from her. I highly recommend working with Joy. She was a terrific partner to have on my side in what could have been a very nerve-wracking process!  More Less

Bought a Single Family home in 2012 for approximately $175K in Cedmont, Baltimore, MD.

Joy was great to work with. She is from Baltimore and therefore is very knowledgeable about all the different areas in and around the city. She listened to our wants and concerns and showed us homes in our price range in areas we felt would be a good fit for us. Even with our small price range Joy managed to find us our dream house and after exactly a month we were under contract! She also has a great recommendation for inspectors, and mortgage folks. As first time buyers we weren't sure what all the steps of the process were and she and the mortgage company she recommended tended to every question and concern we had. Also, we received a CDA 1st time home buyers loan, Joy made sure the mortgage company she recommended had experience in processing CDA loans. It seems like common sense to recommend your clients use a mortgage company that accommodates their loan, but in a previous experience the mortgage folks we were recommended to did not process CDA loans! We appreciated Joy general awareness of our situation and help throughout the entire process.  More Less
