I had been trying to sell this lot in Kohala for years and finally listed with Hawaii Life... Katie Minkus and her staff were aggressive and helpful with ideas to market and sell this property. Jan Nores put together a deal with a client she had been working with. It took a lot of negociating, but it produced a very qualifed buyer. This was important in this owner finance situation. Sold a home in 2010.Summary:
The Hawaii Life team did the impossible. They sold oceanfront property in a down market during the slow selling season getting the price I wanted while dealing with a crazy tenant. The property was in it's glory during the 80's so it had become a tad "worn." Their advice on what to spend money on (and what not to spend money on!) to make the place sellable to a high end buyer was spot on. They know how to stage property for sale, they know how to properly segment the market to find qualified buyers, and they have an impressive personal network of brokers and buyers they can tap into. Within days of signing the contract we had potential buyers already walking the property. Impressive.
I interviewed 4 brokers and came away most impressed with Hawaii Life. They are a young company but they have a level of energy and drive you don't see in many of the established brokers on the island, including those touted as being the "top sellers." Oddly enough, not one of those purported "top sellers" brought a single prospect to the table. I believe I'd still be sitting on this property if I hadn't gone with Hawaii Life.

Bought a home in 2010.Summary:
I had been working with Katie Minkus for some time trying to locate ranch acreage on the Big Island. When the perfect acreage came on the market as part of a six lot subdivision near Kamuela, it was necessary to move very fast and at the same time coordinate a relatively complicated transaction. As the first sale in the subdivision, all of the paperwork had to be negotiated and then generated on a rigid timetable. The sale contract, the Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions, the short term note and mortgage, formation documents for the community association and the association bylaws all had to be negotiated and coordinated electronically between Hawaii, Texas and Washington DC. It was a trouble free, seamless effort and I credit the team Katie Minkus assembled to oversee everything. It was a very pleasant experience dealing with intelligent professionals.…More Less
