My family and I have spent more than 15 years building and landscaping our home in Sharon, VT. Through it all we wondered at times if we shouldn't just move to a spot that was already "done." We regularly looked at available houses and land, searching our way around the market until, ultimately, we realized we were more rooted than we thought and the pleasure of turning the place into our own was worth the work and worry. Our newest challenge at home is to build our flock of Icelandic sheep. We've got lots of fence to build and old Vermont hillside pastures to bring back to life.
Like so many of you we have weighed the relative values of schools, short driveways, new construction, open land and walking to town, finding what works for us. Each of us must make these choices for ourselves but from experience I know that an inelligent, honest guide can help cut through the fog and quicken the route to discovery. Being that guide is my mandate here at Ratliff Properties, LLC.
My previous experience in the publishing and fashion industry took me to almost every corner of the United States. I drove and flew hundreds of thousands of miles often asking myself, "could this be home?" Sometimes good coffee, local radio and a bookshop seemed like it might be enough. Ultimately though it was always a treat to come home to the Upper Valley. There's nothing like stepping out of the car late at night after a day in in the city and seeing the black sky shot through with millions of stars.
I have held real estate licenses in both Vernont and New Hampshire since 2004 and have been a "top producer" in the area for many years. Whether you are looking for the classic New England "big house, little house, back house, barn" or a "machine for living" I would be very happy to help.
