When the time came to sell the family home we grew up in, emotions were a little tender and sensitivity was desired. We wanted a realtor who could do the job for us and also be mindful of our feelings. That realtor was Charles McCann. Charles competently and professionally got us through the process, answering every question (often more than once!), returning every call, explaining every detail, keeping things on track and getting us past numerous obstacles that came our way. This house was small and old, no big money to be made, yet Charles completely devoted himself to every aspect as though it were a much more expensive home. Very kind, very patient, very thoughtful, Charles became more like a friend than a realtor in doing his job. Everything worked out beyond perfectly, and we can't thank Charles enough for not only completing the sale, but also for his compassion and dedication. Without hesitation give him a call - he's the one you want to help sell or buy your house.

Charles has grown up and lived in the Humboldt area his whole life, and is a very experienced, and knowledgeable agent. He's also a very nice guy and was always happy to take calls or meet with us -- to the point of even helping us with negotiations that dragged into Christmas Eve! He's very patient and thorough in explaining all steps in the process of buying a house -- and provided us with excellent insight and advice on the price of our house. Even though there weren't any recent sales with comparably sized houses on large lots like ours, he was able to do some calculations that put the value at almost EXACTLY what the formal appraisal did. (He's previously taught statistics -- and it shows.) Being such a nice person, Charles isn't a hard-nosed, bulldog of a negotiator, if that's what your after (but such tactics don't always work anyway). I would describe his negotiation style as straightforward, honest and factual. He let the listing agent know that he didn't believe that the house would appraise for what the sellers were demanding (and he was right). In addition to all these benefits, people who work with Charles also have the benefit of his excellent website which has all MLS listings *AND* can be customized to pull up the kind of house you want (based on price, size, lot size, beds/baths, etc).

We had a difficult time with our mortgage company and Charles was extremely helpful in communicating with the sellers of our house and making the transition as smooth as possible. He always responded to phone calls and emails quickly and was willing to show us potential properties at a time that was convenient for us. We were living in a house he was selling and he was always understanding if it wasn't a good time to show the house or if we had to request a different time. I would highly recommend him to anyone and was very thankful that he was our agent in buying our new home.

Charles was a great help. He worked with us for quite a long time (as we were really waiting for the optimal time to move locally) and was always very honest and clear about what he was thinking. We never felt he was more interested in gaining a commission than he was in helping us with our real estate decision. He has a very analytical approach to real estate and has a wealth of experience and data analysis to bring to the table. He is also a friendly and down to earth individual who is extremely comfortable to be around.

I worked with Charles when I was searching for a house in the Eureka area, relocating from Scottsdale, AZ. He was extremely helpful and responsive, accommodating my request to see a couple of the houses I liked 3 times. He is very knowledgeable about the area, providing the guidance, information, and thoughts without being pushy or trying to get me to make a decision before I was ready. That was really important to me as I was there to check out the area and make a decision about where the Eureka/Arcata area was where I wanted to relocate to. Ultimately I decided against it, but I would still recommend Charles!
