While looking for a rental property in Austin from Dallas (all rommates were working in Dallas for the summer only), my roommates and I settled on a property for which he was the leasing agent. The week before we were supposed to move back to Austin (and our existing lease was expiring), he cancelled the lease out from under us because he was trying to sell another home to the current tenants. We were out all the costs of beginning the lease process, because 2 of the 3 parties involved had already signed the now-cancelled agreement. In addition, our existing lease expired. We had to rent a storage unit and pay movers to help us pack our entire apartment in one weekend while simultaneously scrambling to find another property. It was a stressful and expensive experience all the way around.
Haley, I am very sorry to hear about your troubles. However, I think you have the wrong agent as this scenario did not happen in my office. I have asked everyone in the office to find out what happened and no one recognizes this situation. Long story short, I think you got the wrong person. If there is anything we can do to make things go better for you please let me know. I am sorry you had these issues and hope things go smoother for you in the future.
