Sam Watts is owner, Broker & Auctioneer of J.W. Shelton Auction & Realty, which has been in business since 1955 and very well known to the community. Sam worked for Mr. Shelton prior to buying the business in 1991, learning fist hand, all aspects of the resl estate business. Sam is a native to Halifax County, growing up on a tobacco farm and still calls the farm, home today. With a passion for the land, Sam raises hay, cattle, & horses and specializes in selling farms, whether 5 acres or 500. He also donates his auctioneering skills in many events such as the Halifax County Jr. Livestock Sale, Ducks Unlimited, Wild Turkey Federation, NRA Banquet, and community and school events, also many personal benefits. Sam also plays Bluegrass at many local events, he plays mandolin, guitar, bass, and some banjo and fiddle, and does a really good job of singing the Auctioneer song. Many a land deal has been made with mandolin in hand, on his old pick up truck and his Border Collie (Spot) by his side. Living in this beautiful rural country setting, he is a strong advocate for Agriculture and trying to preserve the farm land which is disappearing very rapidly. The Southside Horse council is a favorite pass time, trying to promote the horse industry in the county. Sam also host the annual Ride for Hope Trail Ride for Cancer at his farm in Cluster Springs, raising over $10,000.00 for the local Cancer Society. When meeting Sam, he will probally be wearing his old cowboy hat, very seldom wearing a suit, always ready to walk over a farm.
