I am a residential real estate attorney. I have worked with Ms. Boersema on many transactions over the past several years and have found her to be very helpful. She is knowledgeable, diligent and able to explain the process of obtaining financing to prospective purchasers.
It's been a pleasure working with Susan. As first-time homebuyers, we had many questions, which she answered promptly and professionally. We've had a great experience with Susan and Ulster Savings and look forward to working with them in the years to come.
As an attorney, Susan is at the top of my referral list. The consummate knowledgeable mortgage professional, I have worked with Susan for 15 years and she is highly responsive to email/phone inquiries by both clients and attorneys. She is always willing to walk our clients through the mortgage process from start to finish. Ulster Savings Bank is a local bank with competitive terms. They use local Appraisers and their closings and their entire decision making process.is done at the local level.. I cannot recommend Susan and Ulster Savings bank to highly. I even use them myself,
If it wasn't for Susan's quick action and eagerness to help us out, I don't think we would have been able to purchase our dream house in the Catskills.
We had originally worked with a mortgage broker from NYC and was pre-approved for a mortgage for our secondary home. Everything was going smoothly and an appointment was arranged for the appraiser to appraise the house. Within 10 minutes after the appointment was made, the appraiser called and cancelled his appointment with our realtor. Immediately following that, our city mortgage broker from Sterling National Bank called me and told me that:
A) He had over looked one thing on our financials and he could not go ahead with our mortgage loan because we took a personal financial loss in 2012, as we had to close down one of our businesses (retail store) in downtown NYC after Storm Sandy. This is despite the fact that our existing main business was a profitable and healthy business and we did not have any personal or business debt of any significance.
B) The house we wanted to buy Upstate was not worth the price we had offered and we should just move on.
We were in utter shock and disbelief that this could happen and our hearts sank.
However after informing our realtor of this awful news, she'd recommended that I should call Susan Boersema from Ulster Savings Bank. I'd immediately called Susan and after explaining to her our predicament, Susan agreed to take at our financials to see what she can do. Once I'd emailed her all our financials that same day, she called me up 4 hours later with the great news that we were pre-approved for a loan to purchase our dream house!
We were also in the process of selling our other house, which took almost 3 months to close, as the buyer for our house was working with his bank, Wells Fargo in the city. Once we sold our house we were able to close on the purchase of our new home one week later!!
Susan and her team at Ulster Savings were extremely professional, thorough, responsive yet personal with our needs. My husband and I are so grateful for Susan's help. We love our new home and are so happy there.
