My wife & I moved from Chattanooga TN to the Bowling Green KY area in late 2011. While in Chattanooga, I called the Crye-Leike office (the first realtor company that came up in Google) up here to talk to a realtor about looking for a home….& Sherry is who I talked too, for about an hour & half. Sherry was very pleasant to talk to & even though I had never met her, I got the distinct impression that she REALLY was going to look out for my family on this transition. I mentioned that we didn’t know the area & that we were going to rent for 6 months to get a fill for the schools & prices in different areas. We wanted to be patient, because we had a very bad experience with our last realtor, which put us on the defense with all realtors. I’m not one of those people who don’t trust car salesmen or realtors, but this is going to be the biggest purchase of our life & I was going to be very, let’s just say “controlling” about the whole process. My wife was a machine about finding houses and getting specs & Sherry understood that we would be doing a lot of research ourselves (not because of her, we’re just nerdy that way), but she was very helpful on getting us information on the houses my wife found, guiding us and filling us in on some other houses to consider even though they were out of our price range, but because she knows the area, she has a feel for price point in different areas. We worked with Sherry for 3 weekends a month for about 4 & half months before we found the right house. She was very patient & understanding of our situation with our last realtor, wasn’t pushy or overbearing, didn’t call excessively & answered all our questions when asked. Without sounding cheesy or like a broken record, Sherry Givens truly made looking at houses doable. Don’t get me wrong, this was a daunting process….4 & half months, 40+ houses, enough gas and fast food restaurants while looking to feel like truckers & two toddlers. But she was there all the time willing to help. Sherry even helped us when we ran out of gas one day; she got us a gas can & gas to get us to the station to fill up. We had looked at 5 houses that day and toward the end of the day, didn’t pay attention to our gas gage, and forgot to fill up when we left. Anyone with two toddlers knows that getting everyone on the same page and getting everything needed can be a tedious (truly and understated word) process. This was our experience with Sherry Givens & we were totally pleased with her professionalism & kindness. Cold calling a realtor from 300 miles away & never having been to that town before can be a stressful situation, but if your cold call is to Sherry Givens, then the only stress you will confront will be what you put on yourself or what your kids give you, cause she makes the house buying process pleasant & doable.
