James Field Armstrong

Jim Armstrong has been a resident of the North Shore for most of his life. Born in Chicopee, MA, his family moved to Danvers Mass in 1961. Jim lived in Salem for over 30 years, and currently resides in Beverly. After receiving a degree in Conservation Technology, Jim worked in Salem in the marine electronics industry before opening a retail store in 1978 - Armstrong Animals Pet Center. He successfully operated the store for 19 years, acquiring vast experience in customer service and marketing.

Jim received his real estate license in 2000, and having found his new career niche, became one of the top 3 Realtors in Salem by 2002. He was promoted to manager of the Salem office of Vernon A. Martin, Inc. Realtors in the fall of 2002.

Following in the steps of his grandmother, Lilienne Field, who was one of the most outstanding and respected Realtors in Salem from the 1940's through 1978, James Field Armstrong opened his own office, Armstrong Field Real Estate. Like his grandmother, his focus is on customer service. He contributes his success not just as a result of his customer service and attention to detail, but also to his marketing and selling skills.

Jim works with home buyers and home sellers on the North Shore of Massachusetts. His specialties are first time home buyers, providing complete marketing plans for home sellers, luxury homes and estates, foreclosures and short sales, and the sale of businesses. He is part of the Green Team, which helps their clients as a team. This provides better service for their clients, and insures that someone is available 7 days a week.

Sold a Townhouse home in 2013 for approximately $275K in Danvers, MA.

This was my second time, having Jim Armstrong as my realtor. He really bent over backwards for us when it came to selling our home. What other realtor would actually help you paint just to make it more appealing to buyers not many, but he certainly did. I would absolutely go back to him if I ever thought about selling and would recommend him to my friends and family. Down to earth, genuine nice guy that just want to help you make your dreams come true.  More Less

Sold a Single Family home in 2013 for approximately $475K in Salem, MA.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Armstrong Field, particularly regarding Jim Armstrong.

We were initially introduced to Jim in 2008 when we purchased our first home in Salem. His knowledge base is second to none and he is both unassuming and extremely thorough and competent -- a rare combination. Needless to say, we successfully closed on the home and couldn't have been happier. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law also subsequently used Jim for their own homes, all seamless transactions.

But most recently, Jim outdid himself. We were selling our Salem home and purchasing another home in a nearby town. We were dealt some tough cards -- an "under appraisal" on the home we were purchasing as well as the need for a quick closing on our Salem house to appease the buyers. Jim went to town and got it done for us. Jim aggressively negotiated on our behalf with the seller and eventually all left the table very happy and ready to move. There were many moving parts, and the sale of both homes almost fell through but in the end, Jim made them work.

Many realtors drive around in $90K cars, look flashy and "talk the talk" which I often find both intimidating and off-putting. I'd rather a realtor be a normal person. Jim is that guy. He's a regular guy who knows EVERYTHING about homes...new and old. He's not "in your face" and knows what you want on both the buying and selling side of the transaction.

In short, if you're looking for a home in the north shore of MA, you'd be a fool not to use Jim. He's amazing and we couldn't be happier.

Sold a Single Family home in 2010 for approximately $250K in Salem, MA.

I first met Jim when he was the seller's agent on a house in Salem we were purchasing. He was so honest, kind, and easy to talk to that my husband and I swore that if we ever sold our we would list it with him. Well, 3 years later we did list our house and asked Jim to be our listing agent. (We also also asked us to be our buyer's agent when we bought a new, bigger house soon after) Jim has a vast amount of knowledge. Not only about the house buying/selling process but also about the the North Shore in general, neighborhoods, mortgages, home repair etc. We spent a lot of time with Jim in the 6 months it took to sell our house and we couldn't recommend him more highly. What I love about him is that although he knows a lot (definitely more than we do!), he isn't pushy. For example, when he suggested we lower the price on our house he never pressured us to do so. He simply gave us the advice and moved on. If you're buying a home in the North Shore, you have to go with Jim Armstrong. Jim IS the North Shore!  More Less
