I have 3 sons in which 2 of them are still in school and are at Barnett Elementary. I highly recommend Barnett for your children. I do not live in the District and do an inter-district transfer form each year. My boys have been at Barnett since Kindergarten. I highly give koodos to Mrs. Harrington Mr. Schimpf Miss Ellsworth Mrs. Koch Mrs. Johnson and so many others. They truly have a love for kids. They go up and above for each kid. I have lived in Ramona since 1978 it is nice to grow up knowing a lot about our small little town and our teacher's that are still with us. Keep up the good work!!!!!

This is an incredible school and is in the running for a California Distinguished Schools award for the work we have done with all of our students particularly our minorities. We are embracing 21st Century learning and are one of only 2 schools selected to pilot iPads in a classroom. We have a stable and experienced staff who cares deeply for each of our students. Check out our awesome API gains over the past several years!

My daughter has been going to this school for about 2 years and it has been nothing but problems. The teachers have no patience for kids and for some of them I would like to see their credentials for myself. As far as racial tolerance IF YOU ARE A MINORITY RUN FAST!

Barnett Elementary School is truly GREAT on so many levels! The staff at Barnett is passionate about educating our children. The focus is always on learning first and activities second. In tough economic times it has been amazing to see the staff and parents at Barnett pull together to keep education a priority regardless of budget cuts and lay offs! Every child matters at Barnett and our educators push students to do their very best every day - they strive for excellence high above the state's standards. It is wonderful for our son to attend a school that is loving safe and mentally challenging!

We love the location of this school very nice area. We have alot of parent volunteers it's obvious that parents and the staff care about the kids. Everyone works together to help the kids succeed. I've never seen a school with so much support.

Barnett has been a great school for my 2 boys. Coming from out of state the transition was seamless and my children had a lot of support and fit right in. The GATE program was a bit disappointing as the program we came out of was much stronger however that being said my GATE child still had a GREAT year as he came into his own socially. When their wasan issue with a bully Ms. Appleman was right on top of it. She is a strong leader and is very approachable. I appreciate the opportunities both my children have had at Barnett it is a GREAT school!

I have had 2 children in this school through 1st and 4th grade. We have really enjoyed each year. We are moving away now and Barnett has really set a high standard. My 4th grader has really excelled in the GATE program and my 1st grader has struggled. Mrs. Appleman was right on top of the issues with my 1st grader. Mr. Schimpf was an excellent teacher for my 4th grader. She never complained about the level of homework because the lessons were so fun. He was an amazing teacher that kept the children laughing and engaged all year long. Thank you Barnett my expectations are high and I can only hope to find a school in VA that we love as much.

I personally feel that the new principal Mrs Appleman is doing a great job. She has really turned things around. We went from not having any emergency plans in place to having several. She is also really involved with the staff and the kids. She's a great addition to Barnett.

It seems as if our new princapal only cares about the easy way out. I have never been more disapoited.

Both of my children have attended this school from Kindergarten through 6th grade. In general I think the school is very good. The quality of the teaching staff is inconsistent though. Some are great and some are not so great. This has caused a few problems some years for each of my children. I don't feel they provide enough assistance to the children that need extra help.

I have been so impressed with the principal. He is understanding and nuturing and very hands on. I have loved all of the teachers we have had the plesure of working with. They all trully care about the kids. The recess staff is the only place that could improve.

The school has a great sense of community to it and the parents are very involved in every aspect. Majority of children are well behaved and respectful. The teachers we have incountered have been good but I know which of the teachers to steer clear of. I'd like to see some fun programs that some of the other district schools have implemented here. I like our current principal but I am looking forward to some fresh ideas once he retires. Overall we are happy...much better than the schools down the hill.

School is good but mixed with good teachers and lazy teachers. The principal needs to retire--he is just putting in his time and not giving 100%. No extracurricular activities.

Having been through the public school system once with my oldest and being dissappointed with the quality of education he received I was concerned about my next child entering even though it was a new district. I was very surprised at the high level of parent involvement at Barnett and overall committment from both parents and teachers. This school is highly organized and shows administrative excellence. I found the administrative staff to be very capable and helpful. I would rate this school a perfect 10 if it were not for a few teachers that should probably take a sabbatical retire or change jobs. The parents are well aware of who these teachers are and are able to steer you to the better ones. As long as this school allows teacher requests I highly recommend it. It has a safe pleasant atmosphere where chilren can feel secure and learn without distraction.
