California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Great administration great teachers and great students. The administration and teachers do all they can to help students succeed and encourage parental support and participation. Love being a part of the Day Creek family.

First the front office ladies are extremely condescending rude and unhelpful. I wonder if the principle ever listens to the way the front office communicates with parents? They speak to the parents as if we are bothersome students and they do so with a huge patronizing smile. Some of the teachers are egomaniacs at best. They refuse to admit when they've made a mistake and act like dictators. There's little connection between teacher and students because there's no communication. They don't want to hear it because they don't care about the student. However I will say the facility is good if not great. The school care about protecting the students and safety comes first. The test scores are high becausse there are many bright and gifted students at this school. This is a reflection demographics and not the teachers. Their PE department is to be commended.

This is my grandson first year @ day creek. He loves his new school. He says that all the Teachers are very nice and very helpful. The Kids are very nice. I love the school my self Every that works there are very helpful.

Both of my daughters attended DCIS. This is a very good school mostly because it's a higher socio-economic area with involved educated parents. The teachers are professional but if you fall behind there will not be much help. Just make sure your kid is on top of things or you will be helping them A LOT just to pass. I was always able to get throught to staff or principals when needed. My only complaint was one grumpy lady in records who was not happy she had to do extra paperwork for my daughter's applications to private high schools. She still did it but was pretty mouthy and unprofessional. I mean that's her job! That's my only negative experience in 8 years here.

I am a graduate of Day Creek Intermediate school. As wonderful as the curriculum may be the other side activities are almost ignored. There was barely any science and GATE Program was literally like a faded past. This is not the worst school but nor the best.

Our child was a student at Day Creek and to say that it was the worst 3 years of his life is an understatement. Teachers are nothing more than paper pushers who rely on the fact that the attendance area is well off and most parents are college educated to for all intents and purposes home school their kids with 2-4 hours of homework a night. Was not uncommon for our son to have 40 Algebra homework problems a night. (at top speed you could at best have that done in 40 minutes). Teachers marched through the text books so as to be finished with them by April and the State Tests wether the kids got what was being taught or not. If you put this school with the same teachers and admin in a lower economic area it would be failing. Its not the teachers and Admin that keep this school afloat but the parents making sure that their kids succeed.

I speak for my sister and we both believe this school is very good. The teachers are good and focus on what they have to do. The discipline and safety rules are very exact and even just the school gives off good vibes. The awards are awesome and the punishments strict. All in all this school is FAB-U-LOUS!

This school was amazing I was their graduating class of 2008. I want to go back very much. Day Creek Intermediate had high academic standards and met goals most other schools didn't or could not. The principle Mrs. Sprague is wonderful and all of the teachers are great ). There is not a doubt you can't be successful coming from thsi school unless you don't care about your education.
