My child attended RHS as a Freshman this past year. At orientation we were excited as it seemed the administration was going to be great class choices would be great a strong zero tolerance on bullying as well as proper dress code enforcement. Well thatwas very short lived. There is no dress code I have seen girls wearing white spandex pants with black thongs a short shirt and flip flops! Shorts could not be any shorter and some even where pajama shorts with fluffy slippers. They walk in right in front of the principal and school officers without being told anything. Administration Counselors and teachers have been rude have spoken down to my child speak inapropriate in class and do not offer any help when asked they continually say ask someone else. One teacher does not even teach on the subject they are too busy talking about personal or religious stuff. The administration will tell you they have never had a complaint about whatever you may addressing but in speaking with other parents this is a lie just making sure the school looks good. Continued on other review.

Continued from my other review... Perhaps a change in the AP running the IB program would make program better. Please speak to other parents and students before making your decision on this program. Seems everyone I've spoken to has about the same complaints. Lastly I've called about the traffic in front of school and they have not done anything. Called sherriffs dept and they said the schools choose where to put their officers...at parent drop off two to three at times sipping coffee and talking. Another great decision by administration. Don't plan on making a left onto Lords Ave. at drop off or dismissal and look out for student drivers speeding out of parking lot. This is an accident waiting to happen which is what it will take for them to do something about it. I'm sure they will say they never received any complaints.

We are new to the area this year; I used websites like this one to help my family determine what part of Florida we should move to. What we have discovered out of seven educational class periods each class has offered our student several opportunities to see students control the class. We are not blaming teachers more so the culture. Our student has only been required to write two papers to date. Brings home countless ditos when we ask if the work is at all challenging the response is always no. When on campus I have heard such wide spread patronizing conversations from adults to students. I would not recommend this high school we are already looking into other options.

Generally I think my education from Riverview was pretty good. The selection of courses was pretty diverse and it offered at fair amount of Honors and AP courses.

Riverview has one of the best academic programs in Sarasota. It offers the IB program honors and AP classes. I have found that the teachers are for the most part dedicated and very competent. I have been very pleased with my experience. I found the extracurricular activities to be a great asset especially the band. I am not yet sure if the Small Learning communities is a good thing but otherwise Riverview is a great overall school.

From what I can ascertain this school is a very good school both academically and in their sports but especially in the music department. I am looking forward to becoming very involved as a parent and have enjoyed working with the teachers and guidance departments so far. There are so many classes from which to choose as well as extracurricular clubs and groups there is a place for everyone.

Great music departments. I.B. program needs a little more work but is worth the effort. The phisical structures need facelifting. The AP honors program needs to be polished.

All three of my children have attended the International Baccalaureate program at this school and have been challenged and grown beyond our hopes for them. The Kiltie Marching Band has 44 years of straight superior ratings in competition and their drama program is excellent too.

I am a student at Riverview and I believe that the overall education level and other items are just wonderful.I came from Louisiana and my old school could not even compare to this school's level.
