I can't say enough about the teachers we've had -- they're spectacular. Kids are well-mannered. Many parents go above and beyond in terms of fund-raising and hands-on involvement. Principal is energetic and on the ball. Somerville has a very good writing program. Arts and music are very strong and well supported. Language program seems like a weak spot. They don't have teachers; they use Rosetta Stone. It's not clear to me what if any progress my son has made in Spanish.

after attending somerville school for 6 years i can say that it was the best experience i could have had. Every year spent at somerville was filled with countless memories that i will always look back on. Through each year that you spend at somerville there are several themes that you seem to encounter and the teachers always find interesting ways to cover them. From what i know parent involvement is extreme and letters are sent home at LEAST twice a month. Music arts and sports are also very stresses at Somerville and there are specific days and time slots alloted to cover all subjects. (complex instruments are learned during 4th and 5th grade). I strongly recommend Somerville school if you are looking for a tight-knit loving community to place your family and your child in for 6 years.
