California Standards Test (CST)

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Ethan A. Chase Middle School has exceeded our expectations. Yes we expect something great for our kids but this year has been full of one great event or situation after the next for us. They have a new principal who is so refreshing and fabulous. They also have some teachers that we already knew from Boulder Ridge formerly a middle school who have been so consistently exceptional that ive wondered if this is great hiring or great training. I believe there is a big responsibility if mentioning names and it never should be due to anything negative or personal. On the positive and long-term Mrs. Morgan leads the all around consistently unconditionally dedicated and effective list. Mr. Nelson and Mr. Bunn lead a list of committed and determined teachers that you will be thankful to have your child exposed to. There are many. The support staff hasn't been the greatest. the office and lunch program don't represent the school well. The principal the VP and the teachers in general are excellent.

Pleasantly surprised! It is a shame that we would be "surprised" by a school being great....but truthfully....that is how it is. One of our children attended this school last year....two this year. Last year after attending open house and communicating with all our child's teachers regularly...I actually thought "okay what is going on here?...why do all of these teachers seem to LIKE their jobs?....and the kids?!?!". So here we go again....another year of the same. we have a 6th grader and a 7th grader. I have never felt so confident in our kids' teachers. even the PE teachers are motivated and way above average. if I could make a wish it would be to not have that ONE obnoxious cafeteria or yard duty teacher...who yells at all students way too aggressively. otherwise thank you teachers and strong effective principal and wonderfully engaging (with students) exceptional asst principal.

As a student I have to say that this school has of the most biased and unsuccessful "yard duties" I have ever seen. Seeing as my grammar is somewhat adequate I can say that the academics is fairly challenging. Although I have to say the intramural sports program is somewhat lacking since the lack of funds.

My son has attended Boulder Ridge since the 7 th grade and had attended Romoland School from kindergarten to 6th grade.I have to say this is the most poorly run school that I have experienced in my 21 years as a parent.

Great school with great teachers and a wonderful principal. It's safe clean and the kids are all very well mannered. My kids love it and they love the PE teachers especially.

My daughter and I love this school because she comes home in a very happy mood with a storie to tell me every time either what the teachers or the students did that day to make her laugh. The teachers are more on the kids level making the learning more intriguing for the students... Happy mom
