Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT)

In 2013-2014 Illinois used the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and in grades 4 and 7 in science. The ISAT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Illinois. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard. In 2013 the Illinois State Board of Education raised the performance expectations for the ISAT in reading and math. These expectations have been adjusted to better align with the Common Core State Standards, a multi-state initiative that established year-by-year guidelines outlining the grade-specific skills and content students need to stay on the path to college and career readiness. The higher expectations of the new standards will result in a downward shift of where students rank in meeting or exceeding standards.

I found this school troublesome. If you fit into the community of Riverside which is a tight small high end community your experience will be positive. We did not. Instead I found the parents involved in cliches and the PTA was simply an extension of this closed off atmosphere. The teachers (and parents) gossiped incessantly about the students and their families to the point it became oppressive to deal with year after year. When you live in a very small community gossip can be extremely harmful and painful to deal with. It's a form of bullying.

This is such a superb school and we are trying to find its equivalent in as we just moved out of state and are having such a difficult time. The teachers are caring professional and very dedicated to our kids. Mr. Chleboun (principal) is available and truly a great leader. The PTA is terrific. And Mrs. Marchuck in the office sets the cheerful tone throughout the school. A++++! We miss Blythe Park! What a truly wonderful place for 2 of my kids to get their start at school. I must add that the kids themselves are really special too - so very good to each other.

I agree that Blythe is a great school. My child has blossomed there. The problem I have is that every parent is very 'clique'. They don't talk to outsiders. The principal Mr Chelboune is great very involved with the kids. The PTA could ask for more input.

Blythe is a great school! Due to the size of Blythe the PTA teachers principal and children are on a wonderful academic slide upward. As parents and a PTA we provide such additional support to the outstanding teaching staff with cultural arts parent involvement fun nights and academic enrichment. The scores prove the ability of our students and the overwhelming ability of our teachers. Congratulations!

My children love their school. It is a very warm and comfortable atmosphere with small class sizes so the children get a lot of attention. The teachers are excellent. The Principal is really involved and is always in front of the school greeting the children as they arrive to school. The one area that needs improvement is the PTA. The PTA has the parents do a Halloween play for the school. It would be better if the play was done by the 5th graders since it is their last year at elementary school. The PTA should have a suggestion box. The PTA should send all school activities voting home to all PTA members so that it is not 10 people making the decisions for the entire school. This way the working parents can help make suggestions and vote on activities that the PTA is organizing.
