California Standards Test (CST)

In 2012-2013 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

The language arts teacher degrades students in front of each other and shows no respect for parents. They say they are an anti-bullying school yet she thinks its ok to talk down to a 7th grader in front of everyone.

My family is new at SVMC but I have had a great experience my daughter has been encouraged by the wonderful teachers to participate in the governments at Spring view and is very happy. She is currently in the 7th grade and doing morning announcements so proud and she wants to run for the president next year.

I am in seventh grade at this school. Its a wonderful school but teachers are very hard on homework and they dont communicate well with us making everything confusing! The PE teachers are friendly and exercise us good. Food is okay... greasy though (ew). Its on ok school.

SVMS is such a great school! I started here for 7th in the Fall of 2008 and I absolutely loved my 7th grade year! It was so much fun in the Galaxy academy! The teachers were so nice and fun and everything they should be! My friends and I always complained about why we had to run so much in PE but it was fun and gave us plenty of exercise! You'll get fit quick! Can't wait to start 8th! Go Eagles!

It is a great school! The teachers are great especially the ones in Omega. P.E. is awful there is an excessive amount of running and I always come home with blisters. But the lunches are pretty good and everybody is really close. I've made so many great memories here and I am so sad to leave!

This school is amazing! The teachers are very friendly homework is a fair amount theres tons of opprotunities for help with after school programs and its easy to check grades online. It has personally helped me reach my full potential and can't wait to someday become a teacher there. Two thumbs up!

I love this school. The teachers and administration love their jobs and love this age group. Teachers are top rate. I'm proud to have my son at Springview.

I'm a student leaving to high school this year and I have to say Spring View is one of the best middle schools ever. I've made great memories at SVMS and have had some great teacher. There were teachers I dislikes and teachers I really liked. The principal and vice principal are very nice and funny and the lunch ladies are very sweet. There was a lot of homework at times and P.E. could be quite brutal and harsh. Some of the yard duties had bad attitudes and intimidated the kids. But other than that the staff was excellent and I hope to come and visit my old teachers soon.

I've had 5 children go through Spring View 1 going now & one coming next year. Positive things - 1. After school homework program. 2. On-site (and nearly free) after-school program. 3. Teachers have grades online so you can keep track of homework test scores current grade. Not-So-Positive things - 1. The amount of homework can be excessive! At times even I as a parent resent the amount of homework. It is time consuming! 2. The discipline policy enforcement at Spring View is much higher than at the elementary school level and higher even than when they move on to high school. 7th grade should be a time of transition where students take on a new level of responsibility and the level should increase from there. At Spring View the transition from the local elementary schools is rather harsh. All of my kids have had problems in the beginning.

A bit heavy on the homework but the teachers are nice except for two i have had problems with. I think the teachers should go lighter on the after-school work they dont take into account that we have lives they think we go home do our homework take a shower and go to bed.

I think Spring View Middle is a very good school. It's overall saftey is great and its overall academic subjects are great. My child really enjoys going to school everyday. My only concern are some of the teachers (names not even known to me) are not helpful when it comes to explaining homework and/or projects due. My child has come home on small occasions with no idea on how to do the homework. I think the teachers should be sure that all students understand what they are doing and how they are to do a particular lesson. Some of their homework is above my head and I can not be of any assistance. I just think that all teachers should know that not all students learn at the same speed or comprehend what is to be done or how to do it. But overall this is a great school.
