This school was the worst. I was there for several months but the kids staff and teachers are horrible. The focus of the school is their sports program which has not done well at ALL over the past 5 years. Nobody cares about the education and most students don't care. When I was there the kids were very mean and the teachers weren't understanding at all. I was easily passing the classes because their barely classes!! It is a school that has fallen apart and is not focused on helping their students get into good colleges! Not a good school a easy school maybe. DON"T send your child there.

Rancho Cotati School is the best. My daughter is in the 12th grade and they worked with her to bring her grades up and they really could use help with the sports program. The office staff is the best ever and they are there for the students. My daughter goes to see her counselor and gets right in and they get ahold of us right away if needed.

Amazing high school with the best teachers! My mom brother and aunts all went to this high school and all loved it. It is a bonus that the football team is amazing and really makes the school have a lot of spirit bringing everyone closer. Best high school in Sonoma County no doubt.

A handful of the teachers care about their students but are usually frustrated by rules that permit them from straying form the bizarre curriculum. Not much offered in the way of academics. the students that succeed there are the kind that would succeed in any environment not because of anything especial on the schools part. Anybody with options get out of Rancho ASAP.

This school is an absolute nightmare! If you are not on top of the teachers counselers principal etc..... they will let your child slip through the cracks. It is impossible to get anyone to return your phones calls. It would take about 3 weeks for anyone to call you back or for your student to get in to speak with a counselor. Many admitted mistakes were made with my childs credits which almost cost her her graduation. Finally a few phone calls to the superintendants office fixed things. Almost everyone there wants to pass their responsiblities along to another because one hand has no idea what the other is doing. It's a joke trying to get a straight answer or to get anything accomplished with this high school. Some of the teachers really hate their job and have verbally made that clear to the students. You're kids will benefit by going to another school district unless you want them to end up at El Camino to make up credits to graduate. That's if they can even get in. It's very sad that this is what our kids have to look forward to. I have two other children to put through school and I do not plan to subject them to RCHS

The teachers and staff work hard to give the best possible education to all the kids.

I am sorry to see there are so many high rankings for this school. I left junior high an A student. Rancho Cotate did nothing but bring me down. I have seen many things at this school and would NEVER send my child to it.

My student graduated last year and is well prepared for the 4 year university he will be attending. The teachers were dedicated and helpful. Many of them inspired my student to make choices he would have never thought of on his own. Thank you Rancho.

Rancho is a very good school. I feel so fortunate to spend my senior year there. I was an exchange student from Vietnam at that time and just only one year at Rancho makes me miss it a lot much more than I think. The teachers are very very nice and so sweet to sudents. They are really smart helpful and humorous. Besides the staff and the officiers are really close to students. Mr. Steffen is a very good principal and extremely nice to all of us. I love Rancho more than I think! It is the most wonderful high school to me! It makes my exchange student year so meaningful and unforgettable!!!

Rancho is my home away from home! All the good memories about my friends teachers and school way over rise the bad! Can't see myself anywhere else

I graduated from Rancho last year and I never knew how much I would miss it. It's not the best looking school but there's no issues with learning or making friends. Rancho is a school that celebrates differences in so many ways and i was glad to be a part of it. I was a member of the marching band (actually the captain of the colorguard) and the band teacher who is going on his 4th year teaching at Rancho is pumping all of his time and money transforming the band and promoting the school with competitions. We have a new football field and an incredibly good football team that only years ago...well wasn't so good.

i think rancho has a long way to go before it is able to show the smae amount of support to all of its students. the teaching is only subpar and it offers special programs for the students that dont speak engilsh for rancho to be able to be truely a good school i think we need to have more oppertunities for the engilsh speakers of rancho.

My overall opinion of this school is positive. I think the school does offer courses for academic students to excel and also offers classes for students whom struggle in certain subjects. I think the new administration is doing a good job keeping students on track and last but not least I think the parental participation and school spirit at this school is amazing.

Rancho Cotate is Sonoma Counties best kept secret!Since Joe Williams became principal everything has changed! A strong leader makes a huge difference. The staff and faculty are proud of their school as are the students. The new band teacher has doubled the size of the band and they have won many awards. The AP program is very successful. 74% of students taking AP testing passed. The national avg. is only 60%. Our sports teams are top notch. Our selection of extra-curricular activities clubs and groups far out number any other school. Add to that the 9 phases of improvement (the new auto body and first response programs and 3000 seat football stadium this year) and Rancho is your best bet!

I have had two children attend RCHS and both kids have received very good educations. My elder child is now a sophomore at UC Berkeley and my younger will be a junior at Rancho this year. We have issues with the physical plant of the school but the teaching is excellent. And the school board has finally agreed to use 1989 bond monies to completely upgrade the entire school site starting this year.

We are thrilled with Rancho Cotate High School! Our daughter is a Junior and has made many friends and loves her classes. Her teachers have taken a sincere interest in her goals. The administration cares about its students.

I graduated from Rancho Cotate in 2005. Rancho Cotate is an excellent school for a student who wants to succeed. There are a wide range of Advanced Placement(AP) classes offered that help students get a jump on their college career. The honors and AP teachers care about students are always available to help students. The music program certainly needs some help but there are many other electives that students can take depending on what they are interested in. The adminstration has had a huge turnover and hopefully it is for the best.

Rancho Cotate is a good school despite it's reputation. The teachers all try to help my child and the new administration has really taken over. They set down rules and the kids are following them for once.
