This school means well but the fall severely short of being a great school. Let's start with the fact that the music teacher is also the Spanish teacher and the computer teacher. They allow undisciplined out of control kids to continue to go there. The academics are mediocre to say the least. Not to mention they are using Common Core you may as well save your money and put your kids in public school. They will get the same education if not better.

This is a wonderful school where the teachers truly care about the students. Small class sizes are available which are great because all of the students receive individual attention. The teachers are even willing to remain after school to help the students with various work. Our family loves the emphasis that OLMC puts on faith. The children attend weekly Mass and faith is an apparent part of this school community. I'm not sure where the other individuals are getting their information because this is a fantastic school. There is no other place we would want to send our children.
Those prior reviews not sure where they are getting there info from but it is completely wrong. Having a child who attends there I know first hand it's a great small school. They truly care about the children. Love how they instill helping each other out. Class sizes are small only 20 students are in my child's class. They got new computers last year. Maybe they are getting there info from another school in the area that focuses more on advertisement than the students and makes parents do serveral mandatory fundraisers a year.
Zero discipline. The teachers and staff dress in street clothes (jeans sneakers sweats etc.) which is very disheartening when the students must wear uniforms. The staff from the secretary to the principal should set the example for the students in all regard. There needs to be more structure. The children were screaming and running in the halls with absolutely NO order whatsoever. The priciplal either doesn't care or is biding his time. Very disappointing. Out of the 3 closets Catholic Elementary Schools that I have visited- THIS one has been crossed off of my list.
I went during normal hours to check out this school and there was not more then 30 kids in a class. In fact there were less then 20 in a lot of them. They have a complete technology lab that k-6 use (computers up to date) and their curriculum matches most public schools. They seem to be updating how they run things and I really enjoyed getting a tour and meeting all the staff while there. Completly friendly atmosphere.
This school has over crowded classrooms and lack of classroom management is technologically behind they keep taking in students filling classes well over 30 student per teacher at times. Is best to go visit the school during normal working hours when you can really see the school in action to see what is really like. Just like buying a new house you need to visit the neighborhood of your interest at all kinds of hours to see in what kind of order is kept.
The BEST school you could ever imagine! Perceptive to EVERY child's needs and promotes a caring family-oriented atmosphere where learning and respect for all individuals comes together. The teachers are caring and take EXTRA TIME for any child to give them INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION when needed. Class sizes are SMALL and the atmosphere among the children is ALWAYS RESPECTFUL. They go above and beyond for all students and parents. We are proud of our school and the fine young students they educate. The staff is WARM and WELCOMING to everyone. They set rules and follow them -- no exceptions even for parents who think they are above certain rules. WE ARE FORTUNATE to be able to send our children to this school and sacrifice what we can in order to provide them with the best education. Do you want the BEST EDUCATION FOR YOUR CHILD? This school is OK the faculty of teachers mean well but at the end of the day they have no control of how many students are enrolled per class. There is no bully policy. The class can have up to 40 students (this has happened). The principal is very a nice soft spoken older gentleman. The secretary leaves a lot to be desired she is rude unprofessional and yells at parents on a whim depending on her mood. Hope this helps if you are looking at this school as for a private school is not that private.
Being a lifelong resident of this area I could not imagine my childred at any other school. The teachers are this schools biggest asset. The faithbased education our children get here is fantastic!
Our daughter started Kindergarten at OLMC this past September (2008). She loves school and is known by everyone there. The teachers are great and the school has a family feel to it. My stepchildren have all gone through or are in the Bangor Area public school system and there's not the same feel of family. At OLMC you have the benefit of both a good education and a strong development of morals along with the religious education to reinforce what we experience in our church family. I would recommend OLMC to others!
Our children attend OLMC and they both love the challenges and the creativity of the teachers. The academics are outstanding. The faith based education is truly a gift from God. My children come home having prayers memorized that I don't even know! A cathoilc school's priorities are very important in this day and age. Thank you OLMC!
I love that there is one class per grade. The after school care program is excellent and affordable. The library is awesome particularly for a small school. This is a great school even if you are not catholic. Parent involvement is encouraged but not required.
My daughter attends Olmc This is a small school with one class per grade.Every teacher knows every child in each grade. The academics are challenging there are extra activities for yor child to participate in also but mainly they teach everyday values along with religion and regular subjects and the students get the attention they need.I would recommend OLMC highly.
We Love our little school. I especially love that faith patriotism and respect is taught every day. We have the pledge of allegiance we have the christmas play with baby Jesus. If these are the values you want for your child true american values then this is what you will find here. It is a close knit school one class per/grade my children love it we wouldn't want our children anywhere else.
This school is wonderful! It has a close knit family atmosphere where morals and values are incorporated into daily lessons. The academics are excellent and the children are challenged everyday. Everybody looks out for everybody!
My grand son goes here and he enjoy going to school every day. He gets along with the other children and his teachers jest fine. The many times I have bin there everything was clean and well maintained. I would highly recommend this school to any child.
I like the smaller school environment for my son. Everyone knows everybody so you feel as if they are ALL looking out for your child. My son looks foward to attending everyday so that says something about the school. The annual May Fair and Big Time are classics of this school and I myself look forward to them. I would highly recommend this school to any child.
Our third grader is thriving here. We are very happy with the faculty and staff. The warm quaint atmosphere is so hard to find in today's schools. They offer great academic challenges and a nice array of 'specials'. We count ourselves lucky to be part of the OLMC family.
Very small school with only one class per grade. The teachers are great and all the children get along. I feel the children are challenged and like all the teachers teaching styles. Principal is easy to talk with and work with.
