California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Amazing school with amazing programs! HISP is one of the many. Both the academic and athletic curriculum is fabulous!

For parents interested in their child's performance there are few options besides going directly to the school. In this age of technology there should be a schoolwide online system available like there is at nearly ever other school I have encountered in the last 3 years.

If your going to have your kid go to CKM then your going to want them to go into HISP. I have kids in the program and they say it is much better than just the regular teaching environment... They have the better kids in that program and they stay out of trouble. Go Lions!

We have wonderful teachers and students. Drama and marching band still exist at our high school. The building and grounds are beautiful thanks to our great staff. We have a lot of parental involvement.

Love this school! My son is in HISP which is an awesome program and is preparing him and challenging his as well. It keeps him with a good crowd which is important. No danger problems at all. A++

I'm a former student. Sciences and mathematics are seriously lacking at this school. HISP however is a fantastic program for English and the various social sciences.

We have been very pleased with the school and Principal Clark. She has been very responsive and is moving forward to bring back the quality and tradition of CKM. Safety has not been a problem.

me and my sister enrolled in this school this year and honestly we do not like it at all. sure the teachers are cool and the staff is nice for the most part but the students arent. weve gotten dirty looks and when we sat down in the cafeteria everyone at the table got up. its not a very welcoming school and i dont feel safe.

Too large classroom size. How are students accommodated? Discipline seeming would be a factor. Plus for reviews for academics.

McClatchy is an overall great school. I am currently a senior and I ca honestly say that I have never once felt in danger. The environment is very friendly. for those who are overachievers or who want a challenge HISP would be great. The staff is friendly and are willing to help those who need it in order to insure everyone graduates.

This school has prepared me for real life. It has provided me with every opportunity I could have asked for! Plus I feel comfortable going out into the real world I wasn't overly sheltered as a CKM student.

Thanks to this school I love histoy. Mr. Limonoff is the best.

The school and HISP program are highly overated. HISP is great for English and social Science however thier math and sciecne program are inferior to other programs.

The HISP program is a wonderful program. You couldn't get a better specialized program even in the area private high schools.

The HISP program has been an outstanding public school environment for my daughter. She is now a senior and her rigorous competitive load at McClatchy has her well-prepared for college. It is a large urban school but the HISP students are given a great context to be challenged.

My daughter was in the HISP program. Excellent Program for High Achievers. Its very tough for the first two years but the teachers prepare these kids for college. My daughter was also on the soccer team. We both had a very postitive experience.

McClatchy had a great ROTC program and a wonderful program for honors classes and extra-curricular activities. As a former student of CKM I can honestly say that it was one of the greatest schools that I have ever gone to and that I wish more schools had as strong an arts program and a science program as McClatchy.

The administration is very rough. Student records are not automated. Clumsy attendance and tardy nortification system. No way to reach counselors. Teachers don't use e-mail or voice mail. Assignments are not posted on websites. Teachers stressed with too much work. Can't give individual attention to students. No college advising to speak of. Very good magnet program for academically inclined (HISP) students.
