Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP)

In 2012-2013 Michigan used the Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in math, reading and writing; in grades 5 and 8 in science; and in grades 6 and 9 in social studies. The MEAP is a standards-based test, which measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Michigan. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level. Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, the Michigan State Board of Education implemented new definitions of what it means to be proficient on the MEAP test. The new standards for proficiency are higher than in previous years and the percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

My daughter has attended Ardmore Elementary (in the Lakeview School Disctrict) since Kindergarten. She is now entering 3rd Grade. We have been extremely happy with her learning progress through the years. She is an advanced student. I hear only good things from other parents about all the teachers. The principal runs a tight ship yet is very caring with the children. This school also has a long history of very involved parents both in the classroom & extracurricular including a fabulous PTO. There are always great evening events for students and families who wish to attend. Great for building morale at the school. The PTO is very careful with the funds they collect. All of the money earned from the various events & our big fundraiser the Husky Hike is put toward the kids in the form of field trips assemblies classroom supplies updated playground equipment and technology for the classrooms. In every way we are very happy at Ardmore.

I love the way the teachers work as a team. I always feel welcome in the school and classroom and the scores the school achieves never ceases to amaze me. And the PTO is the best I've ever seen. The amount of activities they offer at fantastic and ways a hit. This school is well sought out and rightfully so!

My daughter is a kindergartener this year at Ardmore. She loves school and is doing very well so far. I'm extremely impressed by all the caring parents and teachers involved with the PTO -- they are a group of hard working enthusiastic & creative individuals who do so much for the school in terms of socials events for the kids and their families fundraising to support special programs fund field trips purchase playground equipment and supplies and so much more. I had no idea the PTO in my local school was so active. I've already gotten involved with the PTO and have seen how much these parents do behind the scenes. I'm very happy with this school and my community.

I am a parent of two elementary students at Ardmore. I grew up in this school district and moved back to the neighborhood when I married. Ardmore is a wonderful elementary school. The teachers are phenominal with the children. They are stern when required to be but you can tell that all of them are there because they are dedicated to their job and they truly want to teach children. Their dedication starts with the principal right to the latchkey staff. It is a very personalized environment. Everyone interacts with the parents and it seems that everyone knows each other and their children. I would not send my children anywhere else.

My mother attended Ardmore the year it opened. My sister and I attended Ardmore. My children now attend Ardmore. Need I say more? My mother sister and I value the education we received. It's nice to talk about the past but I will give you my current opinion. I have 2 children who attend the school. I am very satisfied with the education my children are receiving. They have had spanish since Kindergarten they have art gym health music and a wonderful media center. These extra classes are taught by different teachers for a well rounded educational experience. When I had a problem with a Teacher it was handled quickly and efficiently. The school has technology available to the students and we have had field trips each year. The PTO is active and creates a wonderful social atmosphere both during the school day and after school. Thankyou Ardmore!

I went to this school from K-5. The school alone was great. The teachers I believe could have been better. I did not agree with their teaching tactics. Dicipline in my eyes and my parents was not enforced highly enough. I liked the ice cream socials field day and latchkey programs that were performed.
