I would like to know more about this elementary school especially regarding your extracurricular programs and parental involvement. Thank you.
larkspur has a new principal and staff which now are poor. The rules are changed from day to day or week to week. Parent involvement is nonexistent if any involvement all. The school (principal) is doing away with parents lunching with students unless the child has a birthday. Seems to me the principal doesn't want any parent involvement at all. Oh I failed to mention that the school is all gated up like San Quentin.
While there are handful of good teachers the administration and their support staff and less than mediocre. My children have been attending Larkspur for two years and it's been problem after problem. They do seem to cater to the non-English speaking parents and children. If you have a choice at all keep looking.
School is in the middle of a bad neighborhood. English is the second language here. Not parent friendly.
Larkspur keeps parents very involved in student progress and activities. Children get to do lots of fun prjects and have accessibility to a great library and helpful tutoring. Teachers are available for quick meetings and helpful input. Lots of information is sent home regarding extracurricular activities and other ways the students can get more involved.
The school cooperates in SFA (Success for All). It is a reading program. The program is pretty good. It requires students to read nightly encouraging the development of reading skills. They offer music and art classes to all students. This is my child's first year at this school. The teacher has been very cooperative and supportive.
