The parent involvement is great and my child's teacher has been very responsive. However there is a heavy emphasis on drilling children on test taking skills. They also have a behavior management technique that is lazy and in my opinion causes issues between children. Observe the school to make sure it is a match with your child.

Northwood is one of the older elementary schools in Northeast but it has a lot to offer. The PTA is very involved and the community is close knit but very friendly. The students always do well on the TAKS test. Kids feel nurtured and important due to the small school size. Northwood is a small gem far away from the obscene growth north of the city.

My son had a great Kindergarten experience! The music and PE programs were age relevent and the PTA involvement was amazing. The school provides a safe and inspiring environment for learning. Discipline is maintained and children on all ages practice good manners and respect.
