My school is wonderful and always has top API scores. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to provide the best risk free environment so that my children will flourish. It is a large school with a small school feel.

This is a wonderful school my daughter has finished her first year and my son will be starting in the fall. The parents are very involved the students are wonderful and my daughter loved going to school loved her teacher. Such a wonderful community!

My son has attended VDM for the last two years and I have nothing but nice things to say about our experience there. His teachers have been very caring organized and inspiring to my son. The parent involvement at the school is phenomenal. The Prinicipal is the perfect mix of being firm when needed but also someone who the students and teachers alike respect. I've met other parents on area sports teams who used to work for him as a teacher at another location and they too rave about his leadership style and how they miss him and VDM is lucky to have him. The student environment is warm and fun and very conducive to learning. Our family feels very blessed to have a stellar neighborhood school like this that our children can attend. Go Makos!

My grandson is in kindergarten at Vista del Mar Elementary. As a teacher for 35 years recently retired (12 years teaching kindergarten I find Vista del Mar to be an outstanding school. I have had wonderful interactions with the teachers and staff of the school. I am lucky to volunteer in the classroom and know that my grandson is very happy there. He is reading due to the excellent kindergarten program and enjoys all the academic and non-academic activities.

Principal is straight-out-of- casting Capo USD administrator. Unimpressive..but clearly impressed with himself. Politics reign supreme at VDM and at Capo USD in general. I receive regular Auto generated calls from Capo USD leadership to cover the latest gaffes in the "storied" history of CUSD. Traffic flow and parking exemplify priority that teachers and admin enjoy over students and parents... Pack a meal when you drop the kiddos off...typical waits of 30-40 minutes for drop off. Parking for Parents...NONE exists....Curriculum?..... Kids are learning to take tests...not to excel academically...again..this benefits admin and teachers..NOT students. Parent involvement is acceptable overall.

I had homeschooled my son for a couple years until we moved to Talega. The school was worth enrolling my son. They have great academics I love how they go to different classes for Math and Science. He continues to be challenged and the environment has been nothing but loving and nurturing. He is now in 4th grade. If there was a such thing as a perfect school it would be this one. There is a lot of parent involvement. The principal is amazing-- he is never too busy for a parent or child to talk to. He is approachable and really cares about the overall moral of the school. He is great!

The kind of neighborhood school every child deserves--has a tremendous community of committed parents working alongside great teachers and administrators. Love the K-8 program! Lots of thought has been put into the extracurriculars--this is a very well rounded environment in academics athletics and the arts.

We have been to 3 differen Private Scools in the city and surrounding area. The academics at Vista del Mar is by far much higher (part in due to the 'leveling' of students in reading and math). Vista del Mar figured out how to push kids academically especially considering how many kids attend. Very high academics.

The Teachers Admin Staff and the Principal are the best!

The Teachers and parents are so committed to bringing back better education to our public schools!

My twins attend VdM each in separate Kindergarten classes and both have had a wonderful experience. The teachers are excellent and the numerous parent volunteers help to keep the classroom running smoothly. The PTA and Mako foundation are wonderful additions to this elementary school and the principal is truly top-notch. We are concerned about the current budget situation but I'm confident VdM will make the best of whatever situation they are faced with.

My daughter who is now in 4th grade has attended VdM since kindergarten. We have been consistently pleased with the teachers and quality of education received here. Kids are tested and broken out into TLC groups for Math and English so they are learning based on their level/abilities. There is also a GATE program for GATE kids. Lunchtime offers organized sports. After school programs are available as well such as public speaking classes homework club and YMCA for those that need after school care. The school is large and we have been in a trailer before but that experience was fine as well. Drop off and pick up are moving along much better this year there are two areas that you can pick up your child after school. The parents are very involved. The school PTA is active and there's also the MAKO Foundation which offers addt'l programs. We love VdM!

This is my daughter's first year at VDM (as a 5th Grader) and she absolutely loves it! Her mom and I are pleased with the level of education she is getting and are also pleased with the parent and principal involvement at VDM!

The school enrollment is maximized trailers are used for classrooms much to our dismay traffic logistics and safety for walkers is severely compromised and results in extremely difficult drop off and pick up of students. The pilot report card system already went through a revision difficult to tell quality of reporting. Excellent PTA involvement with the Arts and extracurricular activities; however after-school programs are generally expensive and not a reliable resource for supplementing education. New principal needs to build trust after recent Superintendent problems and high school boundary contestations.

We moved here from Northern California. We were at the public school up there and really were impressed. Once we located down here to V.D.M. we were thoroughly unimpressed. The teacher had no control of the classroom little parent volunteers and for a new community there was not any community spirit within the school. There is much better education out there.

My daugther has just completed her first year in Middle School at VDM and it has been great. The leadership is super and both principal and staff seem to have a really genuine concern for each of their students. I am so pleased this was her school of choice for middle school.

My son has attended Vista Del Mar for two years since kindergarton. The teachers and staff are just wonderful. My son has thoroughly enjoyed his classes and he is NOT a school person. He really needs prompting to get ready do his homework etc. I highly reccommend this school and have nothing but great things to say about the elementary side of it.

We have been happy with Vista del Mar Elementary since moving here 2 years ago. The teachers and principal have been easy to work with. GATE testing was available to students. Since our school was new many things had to be established. The PTSA has worked hard with the principal to make our school a great place to be. Our principal the last two years was wonderful and we look forward to working with our new principal this school year.
