California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Wow! What a change! Looking great and an amazing leadership. The teachers seem extremely respectful helpful and knowledgable. All clean campus and no gum anywhere! They got new concrete everywhere this last 2014 summer.

My daughter just started sixth grade here at Bell in September. She has had nothing but issues at this school. A teacher said she had to bring in her transcripts personally or she'd get an F grade for the assignment to bring it in. Found out just recently the teacher never gave the paperwork to the counselor as she was supposed to so my daughter could get into advanced classes. Now after weeks of being bullied for being white I was told that I wasn't allowed to talk to the principal unless his secretary deemed it worthy. She didn't so we were "allowed" to speak with the counselor. After realizing the school was going to be of no help we now are stuck with the only real option at this point in our area which is to pull my daughter out and do independent studies just so she is safe! Ridiculous!! Talking to a couple teachers only to find that white children are constantly being discriminated against at this school.

I am a student here and I had so many memories at this school. This school contains many clubs(drama club Glee club etc.). They have a very talented music teacher who is (as I was told) the best music teacher in the district. The teachers are very helpful and caring along with the staff. This is my favorite school so far.

This is the worst school ever! There is really bad teachers the staff is a joke!My Daugherty was bullied severely here. She received no support! The teachers bully there own students! Something needs to be done about this! This is not right! I feel sorry for the students!

I'm a student and I have to say that this school is alright. It's not the best and it's not the worst. This school has it's fair share of good and bad staff members nothing worth getting all excited over. There are some communication issues that were VERY inconvenient but all in all it's not bad. It's not good either but it's not bad.

very irresponsible school they allow too much and the teachers don't know how to handle their own students all the staff does is wait to get referrals from a few teachers and go ahead and suspend the student they never inform the parents

This school is very irresponsible. They allow things to go on and the parent is the last one to know usually. They allow people to come on campus that have nothing to do at the school except cause trouble. Bad bad school.

I am a former 8th grader of Bell and i have to say this school is great and nice to be in.The school is so diverse in races and you can always find a group of friends to be in.Despite the rumors about being Bell being a bad school well that is just not true. The teachers actually care about teaching us and stay after school if we need to catch up on our missed work or get some extra credit in.Great school alot of memories from that school for me to remember.

I moved across the country to San Diego but I had no clue what I was getting myself into at Bell. The first day of school was very unorganized no teachers told me where the classrooms were and I was very confused. I tried making friends but everyone was so clique - ish that every time I would try to talk to someone they would walk away and laugh. The teachers could care less about my education and I was learning things I learned back in 4th grade! The lunch may be good but it's very unhealthy. They have no tables to eat at you can only eat on benches. The campus is really unclean and quite frankly it looks like a prison. Not trying to be racist but white people are the minority. Needless to say I lasted 3 days at Bell before moving. Do not go to Bell! Please!

School was a little above average our son is going to Coronado School of Arts (COSA) as a result of the Drama program I really recommand this for your child.

I am a student at this school and yeah this school has great teachers only reason students have bad grades is because they tend not to pay attention dont just blame it on the teachers. Teachers stay afterschool to help students get caught up in their work or if they need help in anything. Well tucking your shirt in is kinda uncomfortable and but I guess the school administrators enforce it since it makes you look 'Perfessional' I just dont like the school administrators I see kids at lunch constantly worrying if there is a school administrator around just because their shirt is untucked because the punishment is picking up trash and looking like a fool. Overall the whole school is perfectly great in my opinion.

i was a student here and the teachers are great here i had fun but the uniforms not good at all for my mom she had to pay about $202 dollars just for a week of clothes and all you wear are two colored polo shirts black or khaki pants shorts skirt and black or white shoes ridicules you have to tuck your shirt in until school is over my gades were bad in few classes like math i didnt learn anything but overall the teachers are great here just need to improve a little

this school is a great place to be. this school teaches children what its like to be a person of choice. even though there are a lot of fights the kids learn there lesson. im a bell student myself and im a sixth grader. this school has a ot of programs that kids can participate in and thats the good thing about it. me and my brother go there and even though some people dont have the best time me and my brother know that we need to avoid what bad things that are going around us.

This is a horrible school. I have two children that attend and they have been in several schools because we are a military family but they have the absolute worst grades while attending Bell...and most of the teachers there are unreachable and seem to not care.

My child is a former student at Bell middle school. She has complained about the recent fights but she is still very happy there. Her teachers are very supportive. She has outstanding grades but can work on that 'C' she got.Over all I think Bell middle school is okay.

this school is great its clean nice fun educational and has good lunch!

I think Bell is a great school because I am making friends and learning at the same time. Sure there may be fights but the school administrators take care of it as soon as possible. There is always a teacher around to supervise the campus. The uniforms may be hideous and repolsive but we have to tuck it in and we can un-tuck it after school. Bell has a bad reputation but what people are talking about now doesn't happen as much anymore. And you parents who critisize this school you should actually go see the school in action because after school kids un-tuck their shirts and do weird/bad things. But in school they're really good people that respect this campus and they get involved! There are a lot of clubs like GK and TKF where they tell you that you can be a good citizen.

Unfortunately I have nothing but negative things to say about this school. There is a uniform 'policy' (and I use that word lightly) supposedly in effect here so I made sure that before the start of the year my kids had all of the proper uniform attire they were supposed to have I ended up spending hundreds of dollars on all black shoes and the appropriate shirts pants etc only to come find out when I go pick up my kids everyday that there are tons of kids wearing whatever they want white sneakers shirts not tucked in etc. It's such a disappointment that the uniforms are not being enforced especially when myself and other parents I know went and spent a lot of money on the proper uniforms I wouldn't of even bothered if I knew that pretty much anything goes. My kids don't seem to be learning much either.
