I agree with the reviewer who said that this school could be great but it is not. Parent participation is high. Hey have a great running club that many students arrive early and participate in. The campus is beautiful and the parents are friendly. There are some GREAT teachers at this school and then there are some that should not be teaching. Example would be the kindergarten dept. This is not addressed to all the kindergarten teachers. But my child's teacher never smiles and always looks frustrated with her job. My child does not like her teacher because "she is mean and yells at us." This is my child's first impression of her formal education and this is the best that MRE can do? Also punctuality at this school does not seem to be important either. Longer after the 2nd bell rings there are so many kids leisurely walking to their classrooms. Same faces everyday so obviously the teachers and principal aren't bothered by this.

Miramar Ranch is an outstanding nurturing place for your child to be. Many of the teachers are highly-experienced and dedicated professionals that combine hands-on learning with high-expectations. Teachers really collaborate across their grade level to make sure they are doing their best to meet the needs of the students. In addition to classroom time students benefit from library visits a science lab a computer lab art lessons character education lessons assemblies visiting professionals and field trips. Parent volunteers on campus are a common sight. We have been at the school for seven years and are quite happy.

This school could be excellent-it is good. It does have excellent teachers in each grade level but getting them is the challenge. Why there are not strong teachers in all rooms at such a great school I still don't understand that. I have heard teachers that yell- I find that unacceptable! They ask for money for this and for that help with this and for that all the time but when you need help for a better placment for your child or share your concerns you get ignored-that is sad to me. You'll find the own teacher's kids to be with the "best felt" teacher's rooms---so good to know. They tend to split up a class in some grade levels every year- I feel better planning could avoid this. They don't seem to feel that is a disruption or area they can fix for the kids. A class change isn't always the right move for every child. The janitor is AWESOME! Friendly and welcoming and knows everyone! Limited field trips is disappointing. Paula in the office is class act! She is a so wonderful! It is a good school it could be MUCH better. It should make families concerns number one and start moving in the right direction.

I am extrememly impressed with Miramar Ranch. My son attended for two years (kindergarten & first grade) and the experience has been beyond positive. The community of teachers and parents make this school successful. We are relocating and my son is sad to be leaving Miramar Ranch as am I.

I have 2 children at this school and it's our 5th year at MRE. Our principal is very approachable and well received by parents and students. The teaching staff is filled with many individuals who truly love to teach. Despite ongoing budget problems statewide our parents really pitch in physically financially and at home to help these students succeed. I haven't heard of or experienced anything like the negative review from Nov. 2010. We've got terrific school spirit and the school has a very warm welcoming feel to it.

I've had 2 children go thru the school--approximately 9 years! Before my first child went there I was apprehensive. However friends enlightened me and it turned out to be a great school. The teachers are great--some of the best in the district in my opinion. They really care about the children. Can't say enough about the Principal! She is wonderful with the children. She sits in each classroom to observe. She is totally hands on. It's going to be hard when my children are out of the school. Miramar Ranch has a great Science Lab PE Department Running Club Computer Lab and has several family oriented events--Ice Cream Social Science Nights JogAThon H'ween Carnival Book Fairs and much more!

Beware this school is not a friendly or family oriented school. Teachers are mean and the principal does not care. Teachers yell at kids in public. Kindergarten teachers are just baby sitters. They don't teach. Attending this school your child will only suffer emotional trauma like my son.

A decent school however my child has special medical needs and they only have a nurse on grounds once a week!! Not good at an elementary school...other than that I think it is a pretty good school

I had 2 children attend MMRE from K-6 and K-5 and I feel very fortunate that they had the great opportunity to attend this school. My son was well prepared for Middle School and remained a 4.0 student throughout 9th Grade (in advanced classes). The seminar program at MMRE is outstanding in particular at the 5th grade level where my daughter has the privilege to be taught by the best teacher one can wish for. All in all I am forever thankful for the wonderful expereince MMRE has provided for my children. The Principal is great and her leadership and focus is outstanding. The campus is beautiful as well.

We moved here recently and have been very impressed by both teachers and staff members. The parent community is also very involved and there is a great number of activities. This year they got traffic patrol of the year for all of San Diego Unified School District. I highly recommend checking out their web site http //www.miramarranch.org

We have had two wonderful teachers and one not so great. I feel in public school that it's hard to catch the ones that should be pushed further ahead. It's also hard to pick out the ones that need more help due to the class size and work overload. I find the principal and staff very nice and helpful but I need to point things out most of the time.

Our son - an ex-esl student - excelled in 2nd grade and we felt the admin support was superior

I have 2 children in their first year at this school. I feel the teaching staff lacks empathy substance core teaching values organization and very basic proactive parent/teacher communication skills. I have been entirely disappointed with this school socially academically personally and interactively.

I found the principal to be very open and supportive regarding an educational issue with my son. She went out of her way to make sure things went smoothly for my son.

My child just completed 3 years at this school and I was very disappointed. The majority of his teachers were a nightmare and degree to which the school engaged him was sorely lacking. I'm sorry but this school did not do more than the bare minimum.

This school is very hit and miss with a few great teachers and several very weak ones. The traffic situation is poorly handled every day. Only the volunteerism of parents creates some nice opportunities for the kids. We are definitely looking into other schools for next year.

Miramar Ranch is an excellent public school. There are a variety of extra activities such as science night or math night. The school has an excellent physical education department and the parents help teach Art Corps. The Parent involvement is phenomenal! The teachers are very professional and caring. The principal and vice principal are very professional. It is a caring school in an excellent neighborhood

My son enjoyed his first year here. We were lucky the teacher was great. Parents were involved in our class but not always the case in others. This school is big and some of its problems arise from its size. Parenteral support is what makes the art PE library and computer program exist. Parents need to be more involved if possible.
