California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Our two radically different children (5 years apart) have gone through Oak Valley Middle School. Both have emerged academically prepared for high school. The school is safe clean and positive.

We relocated to the area prior to the start of the 06-07 school year and this is the 2nd full year my daughter has attended Oak Valley. We largly based the neighborhood we chose to live in on reviews of the district and schools. I have no regrets and feel so fortunate to have landed in this great place called '4S Ranch' with an amazingly supportive school staff. My daughter is well adjusted and the school was a huge part of that! We love this school!

This school is just fantastic. It is run by Sonya Wrisley who is the most caring understanding person I've met. All the teachers are hired based on their love of students and teaching. They are all very talented and kind. The facility is brand new as of 2005. The Gym and MPR are both great. Each classroom is equipped with and LCD projector a VCR and a DVD player. There are 2 computer labs in every building and the library. Everyone tries to make middle school as easy a transition as they possibly can so if it's at all possible go to Oak Valley Middle school!
