This is a fantastic school! If you can get your child into the 2/3 multiage class with Mrs. Matsushita and Ms. Chopak do it! I've had 2 boys in there so we've had 4 years total with these teachers and love them! They will truly be missed! Westwood is a great neighborhood and the blend of ethnicities is perfect. There are kids from all walks of life and my kids have learned so much from them.

The best principal and great teachers. The principal truly cares a listen to you. When ever I had some concerns about my child's teacher or classroom environment he acted right away. I love the program they have for math. My child is a first grader and they tested all 1st graders for math on October and divided them to 3 groups pf high middle and low. So whenever is math time the kids move to their corresponding classes so they can take the most advantage out of their math time. Even though all should follow the same book and standards but the higher group's teacher teaches in faster pace to leave room for more brain engaging and out of the box problems; where as the lower group can learn with their own pace without feeling the pressure of super hard problems. These groupings are not written on stone and the kids may be moved up or down based on performance every month or two; as it happened to my kid several times. Parental involvement is super; and it is hard to find an empty spot to volunteer.

When my son entered kindergarten at Westwood after two years of a Montessori environment it was a big adjustment to say the least...but the school staff was very supportive in making the transition for him a smooth one. There were challenges with his speech and language skills that the school addressed immediately. We had a meeting which included the school principle his teacher and on site speech therapist. Together we came up with a schedule to help assist him. He worked with the therapist a few days a week; the schools extended student services staff would assist him with his speech assignments after school and the addtional work we did at home...all of us working to help my son; he entered first grade with the same skill set as his peers and a noticeable confidence that shines. As a single full time working mother it's hard enough getting through the week on the best of conditions. With the support from the family at Westwood; my son's progression was amazing. Westwood is a wonderful environment; their focus is on the students. I know my son is safe while in their care.

I loved this school and am sad that we've moved away. My two sons attended for 3 & 4yrs. The academics are great. The teachers are exceptional especially Mrs. Peckham. We will always remember her and the impact she has made on our lives. The parent involvement is great and the pta rocks.

My family could not be happier with this school. The principal is great and the teachers are oustanding intelligent and caring. Kindergarten has been a great experience for our daughter. We love Mrs Moffat and Mrs Barton teaching techniques. They are exceptional and make the best team.

We have had nothing but great experiences at this school. The teachers and staff and ESS program is wonderful. We feel so lucky to have our kids at Westwood.

Hello I am a very concerned parent who dislikes this school very much. The principal is well.....horrible and doesn't care about anything. The teachers are well.......a disgrace to all Rancho Bernardo. My child had to transfer out of this school because she felt like the teachers well......hated everybody they saw. I hope you don't consider enrolling anyone into this despicable 'school'.

100 percent satisfied. A fantastic wonderful fun school. The Friday flag experience made me cry almost every week when everyone would sing a patriotic song which we need now adays. It is nice to see the teachers parents and students bond every Friday morning. My only complaint Mr. Mosgrove does not take ownership of problems that are important to a parent. I know he is busy but when a parent comes to you with a problem make them feel like you care and just don't hide until it goes away. Otherwise you are great too.

I can't say enough about Westwood. It should be the model for all schools wishing to obtain parent/teacher participation. My daughter is in a 1/2 multiage class and her teachers have by far superceded our expectations! Mozart Giotto and other famous artists/composers are part of the day to day curriculum in her class. Could not have asked for a better team of educators.

Westwood is a beautifully remodeled school. The K1 class my son is in has really helped him to excel.

My daughter has just begun this school but we have heard only rave reviews about it; all of our expectations have been met or exceeded. The faculty staff and other parents have been tremendous help in this transition and my daughter is really enjoying the school. Most of all she is learning. Her new school is much more advanced than the last one and she is being challenged daily.

This school has some great teachers. Especially noteworthy is the 1-2 multiage team headed by Ginger DiNegro and Esther Peckham. These two teachers go the extra mile and bring out the best in each child they teach. I could not be more pleased. My child received an exceptional two years from Ms. Peckham. She was awsome!

wonderful school with great parent participation and PTA. Is currently undergoing construction so there is not as much room for the kids outside.

The academic programs are good not excellent for really bright kids. The staff is very helpful with school logistics. Parental involvement is encouraged and was very helpful with my son.

The marquee outside this school said it all 'A California Destinguished School' in giant letters. And these are the people teaching our children how to spell? Thank God we moved to a district where even my first grader can spell 'distinguished.' So much for the excellence of Poway district schools.
