As mentioned in a previous post accountability is a major issue for this school. The parent community academics and sports are strong however historically there has been a serious disconnect between administration and the rest of the community. We learned the last two years that the Church and Archdiocese does little to uphold the school s mission as well as any code of ethics for administration. The school has new administration again. I can t speak for any new practices in place.

The school generally struggles with accountability. This is reflected in high turnover among teachers principals and even through the student body. The location is great the facilities are satisfactory and the community of families is very strong. The school's greatest challenge is a lack of accountability for teachers and faculty and an unwillingness to acknowledge areas of obvious need for improvement. Additionally a number of historic facts create persistent problems for the sports programs. While the sports programs are active and inclusive the directors are not accountable to the parents or the school administrators and as a result can be challenging to work with. If the school can transition to a faculty and staff that evolves to be accountable to its constituents of students and parents it will again be a treasure in the Cow Hollow Marina and Pacific Heights communities.

Child entering third grade. Pros Great community. Wonderful wonderful families with great kids. Cons Very little teacher education/resources for children with learning disabilities. Almost no diversity. Dated//rigid teaching model. So far...my experience (and those of others I know with boys) has been teachers teach to girls. Intense academics. Hope with a new Pastor and Principle things will change soon. If not we will not remain with this school for long.

This is an outstanding school in every possible way. The teachers are committed to providing a quality education and have a strong catholic identity. The classrooms abound with hands-on and child-centered learning. The staff is dedicated to providing the most update teaching techniques combined with careful assessment and intentional learning experiences for each child.

Saint Vincent de Paul has a vibrant parent and family community. Young energized and forward thinking. The school doesn't have the budget (or the tuition!) of a private school but they have more faculty members and extra subjects than most schools. Because community is revered interesting new and intelligently presented ideas are considered and implemented. It's nice to have a voice.

Search Committee is looking for a new principal ~ March 2010. Many were saddened to read of her termination. Mrs. Harvey worked at the school for over twenty years. She will be missed. The Vice Principal would be an excellent replacement. She teaches math supervises the gym and coaches 8th grade sports teams.

Who could ask for anything more... excellent Spanish great events. The principal has always been great and very professional in her duties. The teachers could not be better each and every one perfect in their cheerful and enriching presentation of curriculum. This school has everything to make childhood memories great. But yes there is some favoritism at times - just like real life...

The administration at St. Vincent de Paul will only respond to the needs of wealthy students whose parents they are friends with While I remain a proponent of Catholic education in San Francisco if you want your child to have a well rounded education by quality faculty look elsewhere.

As a parent and a former teacher I can tell you that SVdP is an amazing school! Their curriculum is on point and their technology can't be beat. The students are thriving in a loving environment where they really care for each other. The parent community is an added bonus. Amazing people I will be friends with for many years.

My son just started 2nd grade and has been going here since Kindergarten. The teachers are great and it truely feels like a family. It's a small school so everyone is looking out for your kids. There are alot of opportunities to learn other than the usual - they offer drama spanish and have a great science lab. The activities and parties they through are super fun - definate family involvement.
