California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

This school is the BEST!!!! All the teams are really great and the teachers too!!! Adventurers and Mavericks are the BEST of the BEST!!!!!!!!!! The music department is the best too!! Band III has won sweepstakes in many parades over other high schools and middle schools. Advanced orchestra is doing a Giving Bach program which teaches children from different schools music. They go to different schools like Raymond Field Junior Blind and much more. Altogether this school is recommended the BEST!!!!! XD

I am a former student of Oak Avenue. I had attended this school for 7th grade before transferring out to the Walnut district. Comparatively I would prefer Oak over the school I attended for 8th grade. Although the Walnut district is becoming prodigious for high academics and a great API score Oak Avenue offers a better atmosphere for the developing student. The teachers are passionate in teaching they care for the student and truly want them to learn. There is also a very positive school spirit that surrounds the environment the children are proud of their work and achievements. Oak Ave's music program is also great the teachers care and are determined to helping shape the world of music into the student's mind to open new aspects in their life. In my opinion a really great school!

I was a student at Oak Avenue in 1973 - I had the best teacher by the name of Mrs. Gagliano. We were so sad when she passed away. I still think of her all the time.

Former student and I would say it is alright. I did not particularly like the experience there but that was just me. Still a fair school though. The teachers are pretty great and the students are pretty bright themselves as well. The rivalry between the seventh graders and eigth graders is becoming ridiculous though. Hi current students just a heads up stay out of the drama. Really it will save a lot of tears. ) Also be nice and listen to your teachers here because the high school teachers are ruthless will chew your heads off if you do not do the same with them.

Hi I'm a student from Oak Ave. and currently in 7th grade and in Intermediate Orchestra. And from a transfer's point of view this school is very good and has about over 100 string players in the entire orchestra. I suggest this school to anyone who is interested in being educated well and still enjoying school at the same time.

Hello I'm a current student at Oak Avenue and I agree with the peers below this review it is a wonderful school and it is so rich in education. But actually this summer Oak is going to change its floors to HARDWOOD! So there shouldn't be more complaints except for my friends and I missing out because we are going to the high school next September.

Oak Avenue is a wonderful intermediate school. There is an amazing music program. There is also a wide variety of electives for students to choose from. My only small complaint is the gym floor should be changed into wood.

I like all the teachers and staff However out gym needs work I mean carpet? We need wood floors and air conditioning to prevent rugburns and overheating at the dances.

I am a student here currently. It has been several weeks since the first day of school. The teachers there overall really seem to enjoy what they're doing. I learn a lot and everyone is just so nice. There are many extra-curricular activities such as sport teams and many other things like that. We have an excellent music program which I'm in. It really is an extraordinary school.

The teachers my son had this last school year were academically challenging they held the students accountable for their work and actions and truly enjoyed their jobs hence making learning a good thing for the incoming 7th graders. The principal held unruly students accountable for their misbehaving and the support staff were always available to help those of us who hadn't quite yet navigated the world of middle school. So far the first year wasn't as bad as I was led to believe it would be.

I love this school. My child has teachers and a staff that truly care about her. I love the fact the school gets parents involved and holds us as parents responsible for our children. Temple City has the best staff.
