California Standards Test (CST)

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.

Sycamore Canyon Elementary school is a small school where everyone is valued and made to feel welcome. Our Principal teachers and staff are amazing and care for each and every student. Sycamore is a school where education is a priority and everyone is important. I could not be happier that my grandchild as well as another grandchild previously and my own children are privileged to be able to attend this fine school.

Sycamore Canyon has always been a school that I am proud to be a part of. From the time my children went there to now when my grandchildren are attending. I could not be more pleased with the dedication of our incredible teachers to the wonderful lady we have for our Principal awesome office staff and incredibly helpful janitorial staff. Sycamore Canyon is a small elementary school where there is a strong parent volunteer presence myself included. Our PTA beats no other and the camaraderie far exceeds what one might expect. Our API scores repeatedly come is first in our school district. I would not want my children or grandchildren any where but Sycamore Canyon Elementary..

Too many combo classes. Grades 4-6 are all combo classes. Combination classes compromise a child's education.

We moved to Santee from Arizona last year shortly after school had started. We are very pleased with our experience at Sycamore Canyon. The teachers and staff are so great. Both of our children flourished socially and academically. Looking forward to another great school year ahead!

Mrs Schwartz is wonderful! My daughter really enjoys her class and all the activities. The staff is all super friendly! Awesome school!!

Up until this year my son has had a great experience. However in 6th grade he has encountered a teacher that both embarasses and degrades him. I have concurred with other parents in the classroom and this "tough love" teacher just crosses the line.

I have always been impressed with the amount of parent involvement at this school. The teaching staff is excellent.

Sycamore Canyon is by far the best school in the Santee district for Kindergarden through sixth grade. Both my daughters are doing wonderful and we never have to worry about them getting 'lost in an overcrowded K-8 school. Sycamore teachers are fabulous and many of the teachers that have tenure prefer to stay at Sycamore rather than transfer to other campuses. They stay at Sycamore because of the learning environment and parental involvement. Sycamore has the highest parent PTA membership per student in the district. I would highly recommend Sycamore not only for K-6 but also for the EAK program and after school activities (clay club art club etc;).
