We're almost through our first year here at Baymonte. So far we've been really pleased. The principal has been fantastic - always available always answering questions knows everyone by first name. The reading and writing has been fantastic here. When we were searching for a new school (we came from Vine Hill) we wanted a christian based school with low class sizes (VH had 33 1 ratios). Baymonte and Twin Lakes (in Aptos) are the top 2 christian schools in the county and the only schools that were on our list. We really liked both schools; I think we would of been fine at either. But ultimately it came down to location (where we lived). We also had 2 other friends transferring with us also no-brainer for our kids. Everyone has been so welcoming and kind. It's a very clean and tidy school. Academics and values are strong. I worry for the public school system. We wanted our children to feel confident and excel. I just didn't see that happening in the public system here in SV. At least for our kids. Baymonte has been a great decision and I'm so happy we switched! I'm looking forward to see how the years progress.

Had three kids go through Baymonte K-8. Academics were great Blue Ribbon School too. The best part was the teachers all committed to the kids and obviously loving what they do and the Lord. Christianity is woven through the curriculum. Love it. Highly recommended.

Love this school I have two kids there and have been very happy. Academics are important but raising good people in a safe environment is my top priority. The teachers are beyond excellent.

I have two children. One went all the way from pre-school to 8th and the other is now in 7th grade. Our experience at Baymonte has been outstanding. It truly is an extended family to us helping us in times of need and allowing us to help others. I have one excellent student and one who struggles and both have been treated fairly by all teachers. No school is going to be perfect but overall I would recommend Baymonte to anyone!

I just wanted to respond to the reviewer that felt the class size was too big. In reality the maximum class size at Baymonte is set at 27 while in 10 years I have never had a class larger than 24. It is true that the elementary does not have an academic entrance exam. If you want a school with ONLY the highest achieving students Baymonte is not for you.

I have a child who graduated from Baymonte & one who is still attending the school. I appreciate the quality of education & the biblical teaching. In response to the latest comment I disagree about the class sizes it varies w/ enrollment numbers & the grade level but 3rd (or 4th gr) & under are well under 30. In general its a small school. The few items I don't care for are experiences with student favortism I definitely noticed some children being recognized more often than others (same science fair winner or awards) & I'm not too crazy about how strict some of the teachers are. We take all of it in stride (many of the staff & teachers are passionate about their profession/ministry) & use it as a life lesson it doesn't all go your way--there are some teachers who really stand out & my kids love them!

My kids went here and although it's safe and a kind environment there are a few things that aren't so good and has affected my kids' happiness to the point where I placed then into a smaller private schools 1) There is no admission exam which means that kids with emotional problems/disruptive behavior are ruling the roost. Teachers end up having to spend way too much time disciplining them and not teaching. 2) Classes are huge! with an average of 30 kids per class with a rotating Teacher's aide. So the main complaint is why is better than public school besides the religious aspects of it? If you want your kids to appreciate morals and values there are many great private schools and public schools that are highly academic (in Santa Cruz etc) challenge them and won't let them get lost in the shuffle.

I am a student at the junior high. Teachers pick favorites and dont seem to really listen to students. It seems that our principal is always busy; if you get sent there you have to face the vice principal. Some of the yard duties doesn't respect the kids its seems as if we are all bad kids if we do something wrong. Some of the good things are that it is very safe and we get a good education.

Baymonte teaches via high academic standards focusing on critical thinking development which reflect in their high test scores. I appreciate that the kids are taught well in the first place rather than being 'taught to the test.' Baymonte also provides a nurturing and positive environment.

A lot more religious emphasis at this school than Twin Lakes Christian School.
