SHS is lacking in many areas. The athletics program is mildly successful with a rather good Cross Country and Basketball program. Our Jazz band has been excellent in the past as well. However class offerings are somewhat limiting with a lack of higher level math classes. Also many teachers are mediocre at best. Some of our teachers are excellent however and the science department seems to have been blessed with a number of excellent educators. However the foreign language department is severely lacking in language variety (Spanish only) and also teacher capability. Overall the school simply teaches the basics but lacks the options that aspiring students truly need. Many of the students here are extremely disinterested while the remainder strive for excellence but are hampered.

I completely disagree about keeping intelligent students out of this school. The Junior college in the area does not offer an education that is in any way superior. I am in the top tenth of my class and have benefitted tremendously from this school's environment.

This school offers a limited amount of AP classes - notably short of an AP Calculus class. If you don't care about math then the school is just fine.

Marginal academically. If your child is intelligent you need to keep them out of this school and send them down the road at the end of the 10th grade to the Jr. College 30 minute drive. Good football program.

While their hearts may be in the right place as a whole they really don't do much to create opportunities for their students to develop their own ways of getting things done or for their students to develop and mature so that they will be ready as adults when they graduate. I took advantage of Running Start and took college classes for HS and college credit the best thing for my situation.

Great resources for students to succeed. Outstanding parental support. A lot of peer pressure however.

Sequim High has given my children a place to look forward to every morning they wake up. The teachers are great the kids are great and they have a great time getting involved with the different activities. Its small so they know everyone which makes every weekend great. This is an awesome school that every child should have the chance to go to a school like it.
