Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA)

In 2011-2012 Pennsylvania used the Pennsylvania System of State Assessments (PSSA) to test students in grades 3 through 8 and 11 in math and reading, in grades 5, 8 and 11 in writing, and in grades 4, 8 and 11 in science. The results for reading, writing and math are displayed on GreatSchools profiles. The PSSA is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Pennsylvania. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the test.

This is a great academic school. The teachers in general love their students and are very good at teaching and helping those student who need help. The only disadvantage of this school is their policies and school board. These people although respected throughout the community are some of the worst decision-makers ever. A majority of them make policies based on their gain. Also it seems as if the school board has no sense of reality when to comes to knowing the students and Yough High School. I feel that if the school board members would have more of a grasp on what it's like being a student at Yough High School the policies would greater reflect the students thus creating a better more efficient learning environment.
